Carolyn: I grew up one mile from Sulphur City(1944-1962). I have a map dated about 1908, that lists a J.M. Sutton as owning 40 acres of land on or near Ball Mountain(which is about one mile from Sulphur City. There also is listed a J.H. Sutton living near Carter(or Hicks) and owning 120 acres of land. Carter is between Sulfur City and White House. Jan: Do you have any other pictures of people in Sulfur City. I am interested in the following: Harris, Laymon, Crawford, Hanna, Nichols and Hicks. Bill, I have one other picture that is a mystery. It has about 50 men and one little girl. The only names that are written on the picture are Enos P. Mills, Jim Sutton and a man by the name of Smith. Most of the men are dressed in suits. Hello, This is what I have on our Sutton Family. John Henry Sutton, born October 20, 1865 in Washington Co, AR. Married Mary Elizabeth Beckman or Bechman on March 6,1888 in Carter, Washington Co., AR. The first four of John and Mary's children died young and are buried in the Whitehouse cemetery with their mother Mary Elizabeth. She died September,1919. John Henry later moved the rest of his family to Junction, Texas where he died January 19, 1940. The four children's names that are buried at Whitehouse are: Sherman Sutton, Shirley Sutton- twins, George Sutton, and Francis Sutton. Any help with dates and such would be a great help, and thank you. John Henry Sutton's father was also named Henry Sutton and he married Sarah Williams. I do not know where they are buried. Thanks, Carolyn Sutton ----- Original Message ----- From: bill harris <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 28, 2003 7:40 PM Subject: [ARWASHIN] Re: Sutton's and Sulphur City > Carolyn: > I grew up one mile from Sulphur City(1944-1962).
