One of my uncles who lives in Hot Springs, AR, mailed me a newspaper clipping from an unidentified newspaper titled "Arkansas Postcard Past By Steven Hanley." The clipping includes a photograph of a family standing in front of a house. The version printed in the newspaper is too small to be able to make out facial details, but appears to show a father, mother, two young daughters, two young sons, and a dog. The information below the photograph reads as follows: "Whitener, 1910 Family members pose in front of their home in this Madison County hamlet. The notation on the card's back identifies them as 'the Ralph Carlock family,' complete with dog. Printed on postcard stock, such photos could be mailed to friends and relatives. If you have questions or comments, write to Arkansas Postcard Past, P.O. Box 2221, Little Rock, Ark. 72203." An Internet search brings up listings for several Arkansas postcard books authored by Steven HANLEY. I do not know if any of these books include the above-mentioned photograph. Page 571 of the book "History of the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, lists a Ralph Ezra CARLOCK (s/o David Crocket, John Christian, Moses, Hanchrist, David), who resided in Goshen, Washington Co., AR, and was Justice of Peace several terms. Ralph's parents lived in Huntsville, Madison Co., AR, and the ages of his parents and siblings makes him of approximately the correct age to have been the Ralph CARLOCK in the above-mentioned postcard photograph. I do not yet have enough information to positively identify this Ralph as the Ralph pictured on the postcard. Does anyone have any additional information about Ralph or his descendants?
