Here's something to tie the two together. Among the residents of Washington County, AR at statehood were the members of the Elijah Dill family. One of Elijah's 10 children was Charles Dill who in about 1843 married a local widow, Rachel Mackey. Her late husband was David Mackey. Charles must have been about 24 at the time, Rachel nearly 10 years older. Some of Rachel's sons played important roles (on the Union side) in Washington County during the Civil War. The oldest son, Thomas Mackey, now buried in the National Cemetery there, was Captain of a local Union Militia. Charles was one of the men who served in that group. Charles and Rachel Dill had two children. Both married Union Army vets after the War. Unicy (born 10 Sep 1844, married James Isaac Council 8 Sep 1865, died 29 June 1920 in Colorado). James Council was the brother of Sarah Louise Council. Paulina (born ca. 1846, married Seaborn Caughman 27 Apr 1865, died 15 Nov 1874 in Missouri) Two of Seaborn and Paulina's three children lived to be adults in Colorado. Shortly after Paulina's death both James Council and Seaborn Caughman moved to Colorado. James Council lived until 19 Sep 1923 and Seaborn Caughman until 26 Mar 1897.
