(Napoleon) Jones who according to family stories came to Wash. Co. from Tennessee. He was born ab 1836. He had a wife and two sons and a baby daughter. (I don't know whether he married in Tennessee or Arkansas) According to the story (that he told) His wife dropped the baby out of a wagon and the baby died. Because of this he left this wife and family and married a Kate Austin in Yell County in 1873. (I don't know if the first wife got a divorce or not.) James and Kate lived in Johnson and Pope County. He was shot and killed in 1891 in Dover, Pope County Arkansas. My husband grandfather, Charly Jones of Dover, said he always wanted to go to Washington County and look for his two half brothers, but never did. I am looking for any information on his first family. I have looked in Washington County, but can't find anything. Another family story was while he was in the Civil War (Hill's calvary) some men (Union soldiers or bus! hwackers) came to his Mother's house and tortured her by putting her feet in the fire to get her to tell where money or food was hidden. She died from the injuries. When he returned home, he hunted down the two men finding one of them and killing him. I am assuming this was in Arkansas.
