Hi Nell, I have a1996 listing (Name, DOD and location) of the Elm Springs cemetery. There are 7 Morrison names listed: Bertha, 1858, phase2 row 22 Bunvan, 1951, phase 2 row 22 Elizabeth, 1950, phase 2 row 22 Elmer, 1953, phase 2 row 22 Fred, 1949, phase 2 row 22 Shelby, 1908, phase 2 row 22 Zora, 1967, phase 3 row 25 I understand there may be an update to the listing. I don't have the update The mailing address for the association is: The Elm Springs Cemetery Association, Inc. P. O. Box 104 Elm Springs, Arkansas 72728 USA The was another Morrison family that lived in the Harmon community in the 1940's when I was born. Harmon was about 5 miles SW of Elm Springs. My father ran the community grocery store and sometimes Andy and Daisy Morrison would babyset me (so I was told much later). They had a farm near the store. Andy also did part time carpentry work. My cousin Erwin McCamey laughs when he tells the story that when Andy installed those new fangled things called electrical plug in sockets, he set them about waist high off the floor so that Ervin's wife Ellen would not have to bend over to plug in to the electricity. The story continued, for the entire time the family lived there, Ellen continued moving their furniture so that the "waist high" sockets did not show! Several other families have lived there over the years, I don't know if any of them moved the sockets! Good luck, Danny McCamey in Australia ----------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nell Lewis" <nalewis@suddenlink.net> To: <ARWASHIN@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2007 7:53 AM Subject: [ARWASHIN] Records for Elm Springs Cemetery-Washington Co. AR I would appreciate any information on how I can get either an e-mail or a snail-mail address for the Elm Springs Cemetery Assn or where their records could be found. I have pictures of tombstones for 8 of my MORRISON ancestors that are buried in Elm Springs Cemetery all with markers with names and dates, however near by, but not on these plots to these family members, I also have a picture of a more recent and a larger tombstone with only the family name of "MORRISON". There are no individual names or dates on this single tombstone. I would like to find a cemetery record that would show the date it was placed in the cemetery and if possible the person who placed it, so I would know if it this could be part of my family, too. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have this information about Elm Springs Cemetery: Elm Springs Cemetery, south side of Elm Springs On the south side of Elm Springs on Arkansas Hwy 112, turn east on School Street. Follow the road about 0.2 miles. It will make a turn to the right and become Lake Road. At this turn continue straight on Lawn View Street. This will lead straight into the cemetery. The cemetery is very well maintained. Thank you, Nell
Hello Danny, I was wondering if you would check your Elm Springs listing for some of my surnames. I am researching HIGHT, RAMEY, BLEVINS, BASSETT, SHEPARD(SHEPPARD) & OSBORN. I seem to be having the most difficult time with the HIGHT name. Thanks so much, Kathy Hight >From: "Danny McCamey" <dmccamey@bigpond.net.au> >Reply-To: arwashin@rootsweb.com >To: <arwashin@rootsweb.com> >Subject: Re: [ARWASHIN] Records for Elm Springs Cemetery-Washington Co. THANK YOU, Danny for giving me the address for the Elm Springs Cemetery Assn. I now will be able to write and hopefully find out more about this single MORRISON headstone. The listing you gave, "Bunvan, 1951, phase 2 row 22" should actually read "Bunyon Morrison. His full name was Mark Hershel Bunyon MORRISON b. 15 Sep 1863 in GA and died 15 Nov 1951 in Elm Springs, Washington Co. AR. His wife was Catherine Elizabeth Ashworh and they were the parents of all but one of the other listings. "Zora, 1967, phase 3 row 25" was a daughter-in-law and wife of their son Edward b. Nov 1890 in Elm Springs and died after 1930. [In 1930 census Edward & Zora were in Vallejo, Solano, CA] I'll now search for a death record for Edward in CA. THANKS SO MUCH. Nell I sincerely appreciate your help that may help to solve one puzzle in my MORRISON family. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Danny McCamey" <dmccamey@bigpond.net.au> To: <arwashin@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2007 5:47 PM Subject: Re: [ARWASHIN] Records for Elm Springs Cemetery-Washington Co.
