I need to find Baker relatives who might be able to help on the family tree. My grandparents were Guy Baker and Sallie Frances Deaver Baker of Elm Springs, Arkansas. Their farm was on the road connecting Elm Springs to Tontitown. Guy was born in McPherson, Kansas on 12 December 1886. He died on 21 October 1980. Sallie was born 16 July 1885 in Elm Springs and died 7 May 1984 in Elm Springs. They are both buried in the Elm Springs cemetery. They had 3 children, Vernon, Lillian Frances (Sue) and Frank. Sue was my mother. Guy's parents were Benjamin Franklin Baker and Mahala Ann Mock. Benjamin was born 7 August 1843 in Greyson County, Virginia. Mahala was born 21 June 1857 at Bates, Missouri. Banjamin and Mahala were married on 18 August 1878 in McPherson, Kansas. Mahala died on 23 July 1898 in (maybe) Brightwater, Arkansas in Benton County just a year after the birth of their 8th child. Benjamin may have remarried. He died on 17 January 1912 at Brightwater. Their children were all born in McPherson, Kansas: Elizabeth, born 1879 Charles Wesley, born 1881 Myrtle Brown, born 1884 William, born 1886 Guy, born 1885 or 1886 Florida, born 1889 Grover, born 1893 Josephine, born 1897, died 1973 in Kansas Their descendents might be in Springdale (whowhere shows 74 Bakers in Springdale), Brightwater, Southwest City, Missouri or back in Kansas. If anyone can help, I would be grateful. Family tree website is: http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~dmccamey/index.htm Danny McCamey in Australia
Danny, I have Washington Co. AR Bakers, descendants of 1749 Andrew b. in Grayson Co. VA. Have you seen the following tree on Ancestry.com? I can't vouch for the validity of the info below which gets you back to Morris, but you could write to him. He does not have 1749 Andrew as a son of James and Blount, and according to the "latest" 1749 Andrew and Morris (your Guy's ancestor) were brothers - sons of James and ?Blount < Robert Baker b. 1686 & Mary Thompson. Here's a very good Baker site that will get you beyond Morris http://www.gizwebs.com/brown-baker/ Click on "Andy Baker's gedcom" Gale http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=wjhonson&id=I35423 Will Johnson <[email protected]> ID: I35423 Name: Benjamin Franklin Baker Surname: Baker Given Name: Benjamin Franklin Sex: M Birth: 7 Aug 1843 in Grayson County, Virginia Death: 17 Jan 1912 in Brightwater, Benton County, AR 1 Change Date: 4 Feb 2002 at 09:33:25 Father: John Baker b: 6 Jan 1801 in Grayson CO, VA Mother: Elizabeth Young b: 10 Feb 1809 Marriage 1 Mahala Ann Mock b: 21 Jun 1857 in Bates, MO Children William Baker b: ABT. 1886 in McPherson, Kansas Florida Baker b: 4 Apr 1889 in McPherson, Kansas LIVING Charles Wesley Baker b: 9 May 1881 in McPherson, Kansas Elizabeth Baker b: 16 Jun 1879 in South Sharps Creek, McPherson County, Kansas Myrtle Brown Baker b: 19 Jul 1884 in McPherson, Kansas Grover Baker b: 2 Aug 1893 in McPherson, Kansas Guy Baker Baker b: 12 Dec 1886 in McPherson, Kansas Sources: Title: LDS Church, Family Group Record-Ancestral File ------------------------------------------- ID: I27593 Name: John Baker Surname: Baker Given Name: John Sex: M Birth: 6 Jan 1801 in Grayson CO, VA Death: 23 Oct 1882 in Ashe, North Carolina Burial: Baker Cemetery, Grassy Creek, Ashe CO, North Carolina Change Date: 4 Feb 2002 at 09:32:48 Father: Jonathan Baker b: 1778 in Of Ashe, North Carolina Mother: Mary Koontz b: 1774 in Rowan, North Carolina Marriage 1 Elizabeth Young b: 10 Feb 1809 Married: 17 May 1828 in Grayson, Virginia Children Caroline Baker b: 1 May 1829 in Grayson County, Virginia Joseph Y Baker b: 21 Sep 1830 in Grayson County, Virginia Jonathan Hamilton Baker b: 13 Jul 1832 in Grayson County, Virginia George Wesley Baker b: 24 Feb 1834 in Grayson County, Virginia Robert P Baker b: 24 Sep 1836 in Grayson County, Virginia William R Baker b: 1 Oct 1838 in Grayson County, Virginia Morgan Fielden Baker b: 3 Jun 1841 in Ashe County, North Carolina Benjamin Franklin Baker b: 7 Aug 1843 in Grayson County, Virginia Lucy Emily Baker b: 13 Nov 1846 in Grayson County, Virginia Emory Hix Bakerq b: 25 Dec 1848 Mary Helen Baker b: 30 Aug 1852 -------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- ID: I27380 Name: Jonathan Baker Surname: Baker Given Name: Jonathan Sex: M Birth: 1778 in Of Ashe, North Carolina Death: 1850 1 Change Date: 4 Feb 2002 at 09:32:47 Father: Morris Baker b: 1750 in Of Wilkes, North Carolina Mother: Patsy Smith b: 1755 in Ash County, North Carolina Marriage 1 Mary Koontz b: 1774 in Rowan, North Carolina Children John Baker b: 6 Jan 1801 in Grayson CO, VA Sarah Baker b: ABT. 1804 in Of Wilkes, North Carolina William Baker b: 1808 Sources: Title: LDS Church, Family Group Record-Ancestral File ----- Original Message ----- From: "Danny McCamey" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 07, 2002 10:24 PM Subject: [ARWASHIN] Baker > I need to find Baker relatives who might be able to help on the family tree. > > My grandparents were Guy Baker and Sallie Frances Deaver Baker of > Elm Springs, Arkansas. > It's been years since I've been down that road, but some of my best photos were taken along that road (before I became a 'real photographer!' LOL) One is an old barn, and my favorite all time photo is of my husband and two sons when they were little walking along a side road there with hands full of wildflowers. I took it on Mother's Day and that was my gift from my boys! It's a beautiful area.
