Hi Ramona and Danny: Two names caught my eye in your post. I am looking for an ANNIE DOBBS who would have married JOHN RATLIFF, probably in Virginia, but not sure. John Ratliff was born in 1750 Virginia as far as we know. He married Annie Dobbs, but not sure where or when. Know very little about her. She is listed as his wife on his Revolutionary War Papers. The family, John, Annie and son's James, Jobe, William and Thompson left Virginia about 1808 moved into Illinois where they remained a few years then into Arkansas. Appears as if Annie may have died before 1830 and John, about 1832-1833 in Crawford County. The Ratliff Families lived in both Washington and Crawford Counties. The next name was that of MARRS. Our relative William Perry Ratliff b. 17 June 1853. ARK. d.06 APR. 1938. Bell County, TX., married Sarah Ann Marrs, 12 DEC. 1871 in Williamson county, Texas. Sarah Ann Marrs was born 05 JAN 1854 in Washington County, Arkansas, d. 01 AUG 1915 in Williamson County, Texas. Sarah Ann Marrs and William Perry Ratliff would have six daughters and 5 sons, all born in Florence, Williamson County, Texas As yet I do not have a parental listing for her. ( I have also seen her name written as Sarah Jane) Another of our relatives, Guilford Ratliff b 1856-1858, Williamson Co., Texas married Mary E. Marrs 15 Nov. 1877, Williamson Co., TX.. and to add to the mix thee is a Martha Marrs that I have not yet connected , but I have "envisioned" that perhaps these three girls 'might" have been sisters. Many of the Ratliff families moved from Arkansas into Texas in the late 1840's, and settled, for the most part in Williamson and Caldwell Counties. They are included on the 1850 Census for those areas. There were other Ratliff families that remained in Arkansas for another few years and one branch moved into Missouri. Perhaps your Marrs families made some moves from Arkansas into Texas as well ? May have no connection...but you never know. I have a Sarah Brown, born about 1876 in Arkansas. Sister of- Milas F. Brown,born about 1868, Arkansas William F. Brown, born about 1870, Arkansas Robert W. Brown, born about 1874, Arkansas Charity Lucinda Brown, born about 1877, Arkansas, married Horace Ewing Ruff Daughter of- Leroy Franklin Brown, born about 1835, McNairy County, Tennessee & Amanda Wright (married 24 March 1844, Randolph County, Arkansas) Daughter of Philliman W. & Charity (Johnson) Wright. born 1844 Mississippi Leroy was the son of- Absalom Abner Brown, born 1808 McNairy County, Tennessee, died October 1883, maybe Harmon Community, maybe buried Son's Chapel Cemetery, near Fayetteville, Arkansas & Lucinda Swain, born 1808 Mcnairy County, Tennessee (maybe Georgia) and died before 9 December 1888, when Absalom married Francis Ward. Abner and Lucinda had ten children, all were borrn in McNairy County, Tennessee. They moved to Randolph County, Arkansas in 1858 using oxen and five wagons. In 1876 , Abner and Francis along with two of Abner's children moved to Springdale, Arkansas, Washington County. The two children were Jefferson LaFayette Brown (with his wife Talitha AnnLewis More Brown and their infant son Rolandus Brown) and Sylvania Belle Brown (with her husband Hayward Tompson and their daughter Ida Thompson). In 1883, Springdale became crowded and the new railroad scared the livestock, sometimes killing the livestock so they moed to the community now called Harmon , west of Springdale and Tontitown. Jefferson LaFayette Brown and wife, William Wright and wife and Haywood Thompson and wife organized the first Methodist Church in the vicinity of Harmon, Arkansas. William's wife Meoma Adeline Brown was a sister to Jefferson LaFayette Brown and was my great grand mother. Yes Ramona, I would like a copy of the picture. Thanks for info. There were more than one Moses Alberty - Betty M. and I are both descended from a Moses Alberty, but during our research we have found they were different people. Don't think this Moses is any of my people either. My Moses was married to Sarah (Sally) Wright. He was the son of Frederick (Alberti) Alberty. My Moses was born around April 18, 1785 in Surry County, NC, and died May 3, 1877 in Flint District and is buried at the Fairfield Mission and we found her grave at what is left of Fairfield Mission in the middle of a pasture, and there is a grave beside her ( unmarked) so we assume he is buried by her there. Their children were Delilah, John D., Levi, David, Jacob, Nancy, William West, Bluford. I am descended from their son, JACOB UDOLFUS and Annie Towers. My grandmother was their daughter, Flora Etta Alberty, who married Benjamin Franklin Goss. Annie or Charlotte Anna Towers was the daughter of E.B. Towers and Charlotte Towers. They resided at (and are probably buried at the Hildebrand Mill). E. B. Towers was the son of Jerimiah Towers and Elizabeth Eaton. Jerimiah is the Towers that originally built the Hildebrand Mill. You might pass this on to the one researching Moses Alberty, but don't think it pertains to her. I copy only part of the information to post here, and in so doing, I do not realize that some of the names may have only a death notice or funeral notice. Sometimes an obit will appear at a later date, but sometimes, this is not the case. I just didi'nt intend to get your hopes up, and then be disappointed that a notice is all I have.
