It must have "krept" into my database somehow? My interest in this line has mainly been confined to the descendants of the 3 children of Seaborn and Paulina; Matilda and Mary Council Caughman were the two who lived to adulthood. Does anyone have a name/date for the third daughter??? The affidavit, signed by Nathan Caughman on 13 Aug 1887, states that he (Nathan) was at the Battle of Prairie Grove, but not with Seaborn during the battle. His exact relationship to Seaborn is not stated in the paper. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It states that the trip to Colorado was in 1887. If the affidavit is dated that year then it probably was by his nephew Nathan Jr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He had a brother named Nelson. His father was Nathan. My gg-grandfather Nathan (who took the trip) was a nephew (son of Seaborn's brother Alford and Rachel Anderson). The affidavit could be in error about the relationship? The journal is day to day, but does not mention a year. I will look through to see if a day of the week can be equated with a month and day. Would that have been on the trip that you mentioned? A descendant of Seaborn sent me a copy of a note written by his daughter, Matilda Caughman Basham (from her funeral book), which gave some of her family history and states that Seaborn "made quite a stake in the lead mines" at Joplin, MO before moving to Colorado. She placed the date of the move at about 1878. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [ARWASHIN] Delays on March 2007 Obits Postings
    2. Wilma Fields
    3. Hi, All! Just want to give a 'heads up" that the March obits will be delayed. My church is getting ready to move into our own building for out first service on Easter Sunday., and I was there 10 hours today waiting for deliveries, and setting up the office of our Music Minister, and shelving books, CD's etc.. Tomorrow, I am "vegging" out. Wednesday I have to be down to the hospital awaiting the arrival of new grandbaby ( labor induced), and Thursday a Dental appt. I am so behind on cataloguing the obits, so it will take me a few days to get caught up. I am the only "stay-at- home" person right now, so am on call to be at the church when the deliveries are made. Our Pastor and 9 others are in Haiti on a mission trip, and won't be back until Saturday, so several usually available people are'nt right now! Anyway, I have'nt fallen off the face of the earth, but just very, very busy on other things for the time being. Can't wait to get back to being of help to you all, and posting a few queries myself! Wilma

Author: PatDill60 Surnames: Caughman Council Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.arkansas.counties.washington/454.1144.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In the past few days there have been Washington County posts on Rootsweb about Sarah Louise Council and now about some of the Caughman family. Here's something to tie the two together. Among the residents of Washington County, AR at statehood were the members of the Elijah Dill family. One of Elijah's 10 children was Charles Dill who in about 1843 married a local widow, Rachel Mackey. Her late husband was David Mackey. Charles must have been about 24 at the time, Rachel nearly 10 years older. Some of Rachel's sons played important roles (on the Union side) in Washington County during the Civil War. The oldest son, Thomas Mackey, now buried in the National Cemetery there, was Captain of a local Union Militia. Charles was one of the men who served in that group. Charles and Rachel Dill had two children. Both married Union Army vets after the War. Unicy (born 10 Sep 1844, married James Isaac Council 8 Sep 1865, died 29 June 1920 in Colorado). James Council was the brother of Sarah Louise Council. Paulina (born ca. 1846, married Seaborn Caughman 27 Apr 1865, died 15 Nov 1874 in Missouri) Two of Seaborn and Paulina's three children lived to be adults in Colorado. Shortly after Paulina's death both James Council and Seaborn Caughman moved to Colorado. James Council lived until 19 Sep 1923 and Seaborn Caughman until 26 Mar 1897.
