My great grandfather John Carrell who married Julia A.Truitt (daughter of Wm Ross Truitt and Catherine A. Morrow)was in Washington Co in the 1850 and 1860 census and he is a dead end for my research. Are there other Carrell's buried in the Carrell cemetery who may have lived in the area during that period or earlier. Thanks Roy Barnes Purcell OK. I'm usually on Ancestry.Com but since I've been working on the Cantrell genealogy for the relatives down in Wise Co., VA, i'm trying to get or give info where needed. I have a little info on Doc Hayes Cantrell and you must be the son of Lawrence Eugene, b. May 27, 1925, m. to Esther Scott. There's a Larry Don Cantrell, b. Jul 3, 1949, under that entry. I am looking for possible sale of land that belonged to my ggrandfather. He purchased in 1903-1905 (hard to read) a tract of land (40 acres) from Harrison land offison in Harrison ark. according to census record for 1910 he lived " Kentucky/newton county ark.) However I can not seem to find him after he purchased the land. I have the description of land but have no idea where it is. I am not sure what twp.ranges etc mean when reading them I know twp stands for township but I mean the numbers. anyway his name was William L. (W.L. ) tOWNSLEY b. 1848 Ga. would like to know where he went after purchasing land. His wife is in 1910 census for Oklahoma as a "widow" but Arkansas and oklahoma both say they have no death record. We do not have a death date or actual place on him. If I could locate when land was sold perhaps it would tell me approximately when he died. I think it was around 1908-1909 in Oklahoma We found a tombstone (hard to read but a "W" is legible on it ) The stone is next to his wifeabout 5 years before she died in 1916 we suspect this is him as his tiny stilborn daughter is next to him (he is in middle) Dau died Aug 1908 Wife died 1916 but is on 1910 census as widow. perhaps he died in Ark and they move him to oklahoma for buriel. This website has District court records in it and it is "FREE" all you need to do is put in surname to search but keep in mind a name like "jones" will land thousands of names. If you know first name use it. I use all forms of spellings as well. During 2003, my mother and sister went to the auction of the estate of Tommy Jack Johnson who was my second cousin once removed. At auction they purchased a couple of boxes of old pictures. A great number of these photos are of the Johnson family and others that I have no interest in. Tommy Jack lived in the Brush Creek twp in eastern Washington County, AR near Spring Valley. These include: Verg GREGG (a young man about 11-12 years of age) 2 more children in the same era, one is a girl about 5 ys old and the other a baby about 1 yr old. All of these children have the same shape of face and the cardboard backing is similar. They appear to possibly be siblings. Mr & Mrs S W COX 2 snapshots taken April 15, 1952 5 women standing around "the JOHNSON Family Cemetery" sign. Cleave FLETCHER young man in a suit and bow tie on cardboard. Jane JOHNSON seated with a family group surrounding her. Ola behind her and Bill J on the right, others unknown to me. JOHNSON family photo from 1944. (fainter quality) Dora JOHNSON on cardboard, appears to be in her teens possibly. Hugh MILLER & wife young couple in their 20's possibly also on cardboard. Prairie and White River are townships in Washington County... Here is a site that lists all Arkansas townships... Prairie Grove is also a small town where the battle took place. It is in western Washington County, AR between Fayetteville and Lincoln, AR on Hwy 62 W.
