I would appreciate her contacting me. My address is Mary Goldman, P.O. Box 53, Medina, Texas 78055. Specifically, I am tracing the Josiah Patterson Woolsey line. He was the father of my great grandmother Elizabeth Jane Woolsey -- hence, my great/great GF. At the moment I have traced a direct Woolsey lineage to the year 1435 and the Billingsley (Josiah's wife was Naomi Billingsley)back to year 1505. Much of the clues I had to work with came from your mother's research. But, there are huge holes in the research and now I need documentation. Unfortunately information I have gleaned from Ancestry.com records is not consistent with other material. I wanted to "prove" the data with "legitimate and recorded" documentation. In her papers "Our Woolsey Family" dated August 1994, of which I have a copy, your mother refers to certain records, but I am confused as to what state, territory, and county where those are recorded. I wonder too if she made copies of those records. She also states, "this is a work in progress" and "research will continue" at the time of her printing but I need some clarifications as to where she found her information -- thereagain, specifically on the John Woolsey IV and his grandson, Josiah Patterson Woolsey. I have always stayed close to my mother's (and father's) family. Last month, Rena Marie Bufe (your mother knew her)passed away at the age of 99. Rena was the daughter of Laura Jessee, (a woman I knew well and called "Aunt Laura" -- though she was a cousin. "Aunt" Laura (1887-1984) was the daughter of Arrena Sultana Woolsey Jessee (1856-1892). Arrena and my great-grandmother Elizabeth Jane Woolsey Shields (1854-1929) were sisters. Rena (1908-5/2007), "Aunt" Laura's daughter, and my mother, Berta (1911-2004), were more sister-like than cousins -- the best of friends -- and I stayed in touch with Rena till her passing last month. Aunt Laura, her daughter Rena, and my mother had sharp minds, good recall, and command of words all (most)of their lives and shared many narratives with me about the Woolsey and Billingsley family. I treasure all this information and want to get it verified and committed to paper so that it will be remembered for future generations. I know that I am the last link as far as my sister's and my own children are concerned. I do not want our heritage to be forgotten. Please ask your cousin to get in touch with me. I will be in Waxahachie and in the Waco for the upcoming weekend and hoping to do some searching for family gravestones while I am there. Specifically I am looking for the actual gravesite of Naomi (Billingsley) Woolsey (1821-1891) Is there a chance she is buried in that part of Texas? Last summer I spent hours cataloging and photographing headstones and sites at the old Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Red Oak, but to no avail. So much information available now it's hard to keep up. Your mother did extensive and invaluable research on the Woolsey family for which I have been grateful. At one time she had corresponded with my mother. I too am descendant from that family and tried to contact your mother. I found an old Dallas phone number for her and learned of her death. I am sorry for your loss. My purpose in trying to contact your mother was after my mother passed away in 2004 at the age of 93. Going through her papers I found considerable geneology information of which I queried another Woolsey descendant. That remarkable woman, my mother's cousin who died only last month at the age of 99, shared much information on the family with me. She also shared with me your mother's research document, some 30 pages of amazing research. What has happened to your mother's files since her death? I am trying to locate the source for specific documentation to which she refers in her family research papers. Last summer, while in the Dallas area for a few days, I visited the old Shiloh Cumberland Church near Red Oak. I spent all my time in the old cemetery where I documented and photographed numerous Billingsley gravestones. I spoke with the only other two visitors at the cemetery that afternoon only to discover they were Billingsleys and as such have been able to share that line of history with me as well. I am leaving for another search and find trip in a few days. This time in an attempt to locate the gravesite of Naomi Laura Billingsley Woolsey, wife of Josiah Patterson in the area of Waxahachie/Waco. Do you have any information on this woman? I have seen this small cemetery from the road and it is not in very good shape. I'm particularly interested in who is buried there. There is supposed to be a James Snodrass buried there according to Lingenbuel Funeral Home records. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to the folks that provided me with directions for finding the Campbell Cemetery in West Fork. Last weekend as a part of the Robinson Family reunion in Fayetteville a group of us visited the Campbell Cemetery and we found it with no problems at all. Olan Watkins

Charles Wellington Talley b. 27 Jan 1845 d. 11 May 1911 m. 1st Mary Elizabeth Ratcliff Had 6 children, 2 died as infants m. 2nd Elizabeth Ann Flowers Had 8 more children, 2 more died young. Charles and Elizabeth were married in Hamblen County, Tenn., moved to Texas (area near Wichita Falls) for a while where Elizabeth's parents had moved, decided it wasn't to their liking, and homesteaded 160 acres in Brentwood, Washington County, AR. Jerry, I do not when I will be able to do any obituary hunting at any library at this time. I am getting ready to go on a Mission trip, so am trying to get family obligations taken care of before I leave. It wil be sometime in July at the earliest, that I could even look, so maybe someone else on the list that lives locally may be able to help you out. I only have the Washington Co. Obituary CD that cover the years1841-1912. As to the location of the Karnes Cemetery, I have no idea where that might be. I am less familiar with Washington Co Cemeteries, as I live in extreme Northern Benton Co. and have only made a few searches in Washington Co. for any of my few family burials in Washington Co. KARNES, son of Daniel and Rachel born 26 Nov 1857 West Fork and died West Fork 10 Aug 1920. His wife, Eva Robinson, also born and died in West Fork; born 15 Sep 1875; died 7 Nov 1967. All are interred in the 'Karnes Cemetery'. Obviously this is a family cemetery and I'm quite interested in learning where it is located.
