Thanks for you response. Yes, the Albert I am looking for was the son of James HENRY and Mary Jane BEAL. He was the brother of my gggrandmother Arizona HENRY CARDWELL. I think I may have found someone here in Joplin who is a descendant of Albert, thus, my 3rd cousin....and yes, I do have a copy of James' will. Thanks again. I think I will look in other counties now... Anita, My book shows your James Henry Berry and Mary Jane Beal but not Albert Berry Henry. A 168 Henry, James --Beal, Jane 10-11-1849 This is from Washington County, Arkansas Marriage Records Books A, B & C 1845--1871 and is probably too early for your Albert. There is a will for James Henry in my other book 1910 E pg. 124. I'm from the Gold Country, Northern California, and I hope I'm not too late for the roll call! My research centers on three families, Arthur CRAWFORD, James WEST, and William HILLIARD. Arthur CRAWFORD arrived in Washington Co., in 1838 and settled around West Fork/Brentwood. Arthur, along with Appy BROWN, gave the land for the Brentwood School. This was also the first voting precinct for the Township. I am decended through his daughter, Adaline. I have most of the information I need on this family, but would love to have any "family stories" that anyone might have. James WEST arrived in Washington Co. from Illinois around 1840 with his wife Sarah, his sons George and Aaron, and daughter Margaret and her husband James HILL. I am decended through James' son George who married Rachel MASON, then through their son John L. who married Adaline CRAWFORD. The WEST family settled in White River Township and were members of the White River Congregation (Arkansas) of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. John and his daughter Effie are buried in the White House Cemetery. George and Rachel are buried in Kings Cemetery. I have some information about this family, however, would like to learn more. William HILLIARD arrived in Washington Co. in the early 1900s. He also lived in MO and later IL where her married Hulda Adaline MITCHELL. In Hulda's obituary he is said to have been a minister. I also have documents listing a William Hilliard as the UNDERTAKER in the Brentwood area. William and Hulda had two children, Eliza J. and William James. His second wife was Snowbelle HOLCOMB. They had one child, George. I am decended through his son William James HILLIARD who married my grandmother Sydney Lea WEST ( John and Adaline WEST's daughter). Bill HILLIARD worked for the Frisco Railroad. I have only a little information on this family and would love some help! Sydney WEST was raised by her cousin Sydney Painter BROWN (AKA Big Syd) in Brentwood. Appy and Syd BROWN's home, built in 1888 was up on the knoll across the highway from the Brentwood School and Cemetery. Appy BROWN at one time owned the mill in Brentwood and was an investor in the bank in Winslow. Appy and Syd are buried in the Brentwood Cemetery. I would love any information on Sydney and Appy BROWN, especially the pictures of the old house my grandmother grew up in. Thanks for taking the time to read through this. I'm putting together a web site that will be up soon: www.geocities.com/arkansasfamily/index.html I hope to connect with other researchers of these families! I searched Ancestry.com, and the only Mary marrying a William Williams in Washington County is listed below...the year is later than your parameters. WILLIAMS, WILLIAM Spouse: VAUGHAN, MARY F. I am trying to determine what happened to Mary and William Williams in the following family in 1860 Benton Arkansas Census. (I descend from the older daughter Permelia who Benjamin James Jordan Marsh...They are household 39 in the same census, with his name transcribed incorrectly. They actually lived very close to Thomas below, but in a different Township/Range. As I figure it they lived just about exactly where the small airfield is today, just a couple of miles from the Walmart (and historical society :-) on Section 6, Township19N Range 30W . Household #1376 -- MY LINE PROBABLY -- Thomas WILLIAMS (49, TN), wife Franky (49, TN), children Mary (24, TN), Amanda Bell m. Henry Lawson GUFFY (19, TN), Ira d. April 1865, buried Fayetteville Cemetery (19, TN), Matilda Jane m. Seaburn COPELAND (16, MO), William (8, AR). This family is in Dade Co Missouri in 1870, but Mary and William seem to have disappeared. Is there a marriage (s) for Mary and/or William Williams between 1860 and 1870 in Washington Co. Arkansas? FYI, Matilda and Seaburn Copeland were married in Washington Co. December 11, 1864, according to Civil War pension documents. So I am wondering if they other two, Mary and William Williams might also have been. Looking for information on John Calvin Runnels who married Mary Elizabeth West in Arkansas. Mary West was the daughter of Rosanna Marrs and unknown West. Mary Elizabeth West was born 1856 near Fayetteville AR. John Calvin Runnels and Mary Elizabeth West Runnels were my great grand partents. I live in Texas.
I am from New Mexico and am searching for any information on the Cullenders who were in Washington County in the 1850's. John Henry Cullender, born in TN in 1849, was the son of Anthony Cullender and Sarah Jane (?). John Henry married first to Susan Usery and later to J. Annie Davidson. I am searching for names of parents, burial places, and any other related information. Anthony died cir 1861 and John Henry lived with a Joseph Smith who might have been his uncle. Sarah Jane died prior to Anthony -- possibly in Washington County (place of death and burial not know) or in TN where John Henry was born. I am also searching for information on the Ivy/Ivey family -- John Ivey married Mary Hartley (d. cir 1888) in Washington County. He was the son of Nancy Brockus Ivy and Manley Ivey who was the son of Robert Ivy and Lucinda Shaddon of Independence County. When the Ivy family moved to Washington County is not known by me. Any information at all would be appreciated. Becky
Looking for information on Mary Ann Nichols born 1842 in Va., died in the 1920's White River Township. Married Samuel Harris about 1859 in Washington Co. Thank you. Bill Harris Connecticut
Hi everyone, My name is Danny McCamey and I live in a suburb of Sydney, Australia called Cherrybrook. My father's ancestors were the McCamey's and Wright's of the Harmon area and my mother's were the Baker's and Deaver's of the Tontitown/Elm Springs area. The McCamey's go back to Joseph H. McCamey (b. 1818) and Nancy Trollinger McCamey (b. 1819) of Bedford County, Tennessee. The 1840 census has them in Bedford County, Tennessee. The 1850 census has them at War Eagle in Madison County, Arkansas. The 1860 census has them at Elm Springs in Washington County Arkansas. They are both buried at the Elm Springs cemetery. Joseph died in Benton County and Nancy died in Washington County (I think). I cannot document their birth dates but the census has both of them born in Tennessee. I have been unable to identify who Joseph's parents were. The Wright's go back to Jacob Wright (b. 1730) and Elizabeth Ann Waters Wright (b. abt 1761)of Laurens, South Carolina. The Wright family appears to have moved between North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Mississippi prior to 1860. By 1860, they had moved to Camden, Benton County, Tennessee. Prior to 1873, they then moved to Randolph County, Arkansas. From there, they moved to Springdale, Arkansas and then in 1882 they moved to the Harmon community. The land in Springdale was just east of the old intersection of highways 68 and 71. They moved because the trains on the newly-laid railroad had killed or crippled some of their calves. I have been unable to determine who the ancestors of Jacob and Elizabeth are. The Baker's go back to James Baker (b. abt 1723), wife unknown, of Wilkes County, North Carolina. The family moved back and forth between Wilkes County, North Carolina and Greyson County, Virginia (just across the line) until my great grandfather Benjamin Franklin Baker moved to McPherson, Kansas before 1878. After having 8 children in Kansas, He then moved to Brightwater, Benton County, Arkansas about 1900. My grandfather Guy Baker then married Sallie Deaver of Elm Springs in 1915. I cannot determine who James Baker married or who his ancestors were. By marriage into the Baker family, the ancestors of Guy Baker go back to about the time of Christ. My most important need is to locate ANY OTHER LIVING DESCENDANTS of Benjamin Franklin Baker in order to compare information, identify photos, etc.etc. The Deaver's go back to Basel Deaver (b. 1705 est) and Chew Pierpoint Deaver (b. 1725 est) of Maryland. The Deaver's remained in Maryland until Benjamin Jackson Deaver moved to Elm Springs, Washington County, Arkansas about 1850. There is a lot more to this story. I have been unable to determine who the ancestors of Basel and Chew are. See my website for more info and pictures: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dmccamey/ Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Danny
