Dear List, I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all Happy Holidays, and let you know that many Goodspeed Biographies have been added to the Washington County section ( http://www.arkansasfamilies.net/afcowashington.html )at ArkansasFamilies.net. Hi Tonya, I had lost your email address, so I was very happy you posted this email! I have put your website into my favorites. Your pictures are excellent. I would like to use your Austin pictures in the stucky cemetery onto my website instead of using my pictures. Your pictures are good. If ok by you, please send them by email (if you sent them before, please send them again). My updated website is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dmccamey/ I was in Washington county for just a few days in October, but did not have time to visit the cemeteries or visit relatives. I am copying Carolyn Page of Tontitown because her relatives are also the Austins. We have a group of about 60 people mainly from the Harmon area in which we share by email what we can remember about the area and the people. At least once a week and sometimes every day or two, I combine all the emails (except the private ones) and send them to the entire group. If you think you might be interested in reading these and/or adding to them, just let me know. Good to hear from you again! 5 December 2002 Hi Donna, In a book of Washington County, AR, history is states the birth place of Martha Elizabeth HUGHES as Lawrence County, MO, 2 Mar 1852. She is the daughter of my ggg-grandfather George. It appears the HUGHES', PASCHALs, HOBBS, and probably other families traveled together from NC to TN to MO to AR so it would seem right that the others I show simply born in MO were probably born in Lawrence County as well, given the original information is correct. These dates range from about 1852 to about 1857. I have Jesse Henry HOBBS, born 25 April 1825 in North Carolina, as the son of Joshua HOBBS and Elizabeth SMITH HOBBS. There were HOBBS families living in the Guilford and Orange County border area, in both counties if I recall correctly. There were living in the same area with the PASCHAL and HUGHES families. I haven't put a lot of effort into tracking the HOBBS just yet, but would be very interested in exchanging information with you. You welcome to whatever info I have. Thanks for the email.....looking forward to hearing from you again. Happy Thanksgiving to all. As we digest our Thanksgiving meal and savor the memories of this day and Thanksgiving past, we might take a moment to record those thoughts and memories for future genealogist. Aunt Nell's spinach cassarole, Aunt Margarets pecan pie and Granny's candied sweet potatoe reciepes and your memory of an event where they were served for which will be a treasure some future genealogist will be thankful. Those holiday cards will soon be arriving in the mail. Remember to record the addresses, and those holiday letters are a often record of recent history which will only age. Jo Russell

Ted, you did find something I have been looking for even tho I asked for something else. The Thornhill family I am related to is James Thornhill and Leishia Hunter Thornhill. James reportedly born in MO circa 1821. I am unable to prove his parents are. Projections perhaps from a VA line of Thornhills, who migrated to Lincoln County, MO, near town of Troy, MO. The John R Thornhill in my post is the son of the James in this paragraph. James and Leishia would move to Wise County TX in 1864 exchanging land with a Tefertiller family that lived there. The Tefertillers came and took the AR land the Thornhills had. I have also been looking for a John Tyler Thornhill who may have been the brother to James. I have been told that John Tyler had land next to James in Washington County (about 1850) but unable to prove that. Story also says that he did not come back from the Civil War. So I am most interested in the info you provided on PVT J T Thornhill. Now I know he was there and have another starting point. Will have to try to get his war record. I don't recognize the TN Thornhills that you mention. I have found Thornhills in KY and again a family story says ours were in TN for a short time. Thanks for the response to the post. Surnames attached to my Thornhill line: Hunter, Collard, Allison, Beebe, O'Roark. Gil ----- Original Message ----- From: "W. RE Civil War records: You can access his service record thru the National Archives collections. These are often very informative. Should show if wounded, etc. There is a collection of the index cards online also, thru a university I think. Do a search on <A HREF="www.google.com">www.google.com</A> using "Confederate service records" and similar search terms and I think you'll come up with it. Candace
Dear friends, For about two years we have been working an on extensive website with history of Primitive Baptist Churches, county by county, in over thirty states, across the northern, eastern and western tier of our country. Some of these states have only sketchy information, others (such as Illinois and Iowa) are quite detailed, with lists of surnames of members which have been taken from our database of members, which now has nearly 40,000 entries. About half of these names are for Illinois. To view our website, go to the following URL: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html To go directly to the pages we are just beginning for Arkansas, go to http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist-Arkansas .html We would be grateful for any assistance anyone can give us as we try to preserve our heritage, by obtaining and preserving old church records, association minutes, historical sketches, biographical sketches of ministers, photos, etc. We have very limited staff, volunteer, but will do our best to respond as time permits. Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb The Primitive Baptist Library 416 Main Street Carthage, IL 62321 ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month!
