    1. [ARWASHIN] Jane BRANDON FINE, Wife of Spencer FINE (1808 TN-c 1895 AR)
    2. Cousins, this is copied from the FINE Mailing List; by Kaye Larrabee: Quoted directly from Betty Padilla's "Fine Lines:" He [Spencer Forby FINE] married Jane BRANDON 6 Sep 1833 in Washington County, Arkansas; they divorced.  She was born 17 Apr 1818 in Cumberland [probably County], Tennessee.  She was the daughter of James J. BRANDON and Rhoda CARTWRIGHT.  Jane died 5 Nov 1912 in Modesto, Stanislaus Co., California, at the age of 94, and was buried in Citizens Cem., Modesto, Stanislaus Co., CA. SOURCE NOTES for Jane:     BIRTH-DEATH-MARRIAGE:  Obituary in Modesto Morning Herald, Tues., Nov 5, 1912, page 1, col. 2.     RESIDENCE:  In 1900 living with child in Asotin Co., WA. Hope this helps.  I haven't personally verified this, but if Betty has the obit, then I would venture that her info is accurate. Beth Brown List Mom for WALEWIS, FAAS, BRANSTETTER & HURT

    1. [ARWASHIN] London Peter or London F. FINE and Emily MORROW
    2. Hello Cousins, My name is Kaye Larrabee and I am the ListNag for the FINE Mailing List at Rootsweb and now, I'm a subscriber to the Washington County, AR list as well. Cousin Kathleen O'Kelley gave me a "heads-up" that there were FINE messages going around, so I thought I'd throw in my meager information about London FINE. I show that London F. (or London Peter) FINE was born 30 October 1858 in Washington County, AR to Spencer FINE (1808-1896) and Jane (Jenny) BRANDON (1818-c1918). London married Emily (Emilie) MORROW on 1 Jan 1888 in Asotin County, Washington. They had a daughter, Jessie A. FINE (1891 WA- a 1920 CA) and two sons: Noah J. FINE (5 Oct 1893 WA - 26 Feb 1973 CA) and Norman F. FINE (16 May 1904 CA - 27 Nov 1976 CA). I have London FINE in census records in 1910, 1920 and 1930 in Modesto, Stanislaus County, CA census records. London FINE's mother, Jane BRANDON FINE, who was divorced from Spencer FINE, is living in Modesto, Stanislaus County, CA in 1910, also, with a granddaughter. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to share any information that I have. Kaye Larrabee 2113 95th St Lubbock, TX 79423 (806) 748-6442 Washington County AR ancestors: WILLIAM FINE and KATIE SIVELY

    2. Have you done research on why they were in Asotin county at that time? I'm a historian in Washington, and that is a very strange place for someone to have been living at that point in time, because of the events going on in the region. It's still very sparsely inhabited today with only one town of any size, Clarkston, and that's only 6700. Candace Wellman Bellingham, WA

    3. Carol asked about the family background of our sibling Emily MORROW that m. London FINE of Washington County, Arkansas. There may very well be a connection yet unknown to us at this time. In the 1870's, our MORROW branch migrated from Hall County, Georgia to Fort Scott, Kansas; to Milan Missouri; back to Brownwood, Texas; to Asotin, Washington Territory by 1882 (based on Census, children's birthplaces, and oral tradition. Did they have friends and family in northwest Arkansas? So maybe; there were a lot of MORROWs in the South. Emily apparently met up with London in Asotin County, Washington Territory where we suspect they were married. Carol, I believe you and I went over the possibilities a year or so ago because you had posted some familiar given names. We didn't come to any conclusions, but I filed printouts for future reference. Ya never know! M. M. Morrow

However, I have not checked out everyone yet, so keep your fingers crossed. If I see something, I will definitely contact you. BTW, I love the Pea Ridge area. One of my very favorite places - did your Sarah Miller's relatives live there during the Battle of Pea Ridge, or The Battle of ElkHorn Tavern, as they say in the South? 1. Re: [ARWASHIN] Re: George Miller
    2. Joel & Debbie Holth
    3. Joy, Thanks so much for the information. George Miller's parents were born in Michigan and England. His father was George W. Miller, and his mother was Charlotte Gittins Miller. He had 1 half-brother, Edward, and 3 brothers, Charles, Frank, and Walter, all born in Wayne Co., Redford Township, Michigan in the late 1870s-1880s. George Miller (my grandfather) left home around 1900 never to return because of a family issue - he was deeply hurt by his parents and never talked about any of them again. We do not know what happened to Edward, Charles or Frank, but can find Walter. I never ever discount any Millers that are found on the net because sometimes there is a link that we just don't know about yet. George went to Indianapolis sometime in 1915 or 1916 and met my grandmother, Bessie Payton, whom he married in January 1916. They moved to Kansas City soon after that where their first child, Leonard, was born. My father was the youngest of 4 children, and he was born in Oklahoma. George and Bessie eventually made it to Arkansas and lived for a time on a ranch in Highfill, then moved into Fayetteville I believe near the end of his life. My grandmother lived in Fayetteville for about 15 years after his death and then moved to the Kansas City area in Mo., where she died in 1976. We have been digging an digging, trying to find the whereabouts of all his brothers in Michigan, and have made some inroads, but really do not know much about them, so the search goes on. If I run across anything that could be of interest to you, I will definitely pass it on. Were your Millers all born in Arkansas? I ran into someone on the net who was searching for their relatives in NW Arkansas about a year or so ago and she was desperate to find them. Think one of them was a Frank Miller and he had served a prison sentence, but not really sure. Thanks, and good hunting!! 3. Hi M. M., I don't have any direct contact at this point with any Fines (except me from granny Millie :-). I am new to this line of my research, although, I would dearly love to see the photo you have of a Fine. Is it possible to email it? You never can tell where family resemblance comes in. My father looks just like his grandfather Romulus Claude Jr and my cousin Farrah soooo much like our gr grandmother Lucille Hewitt James. My granny who is still alive and a very sharp 90 may have met this person. She married Miles James, son of Romulus Jr. As for Romulus Claude, sorry if I confused you. My great grand father was Romulus Claude Jr married to Lucille Hewitt and when she died he married Isobel Searles. My great great grandfather was Romulus Claude Sr who married Sarah Ann Miller of Pea Ridge and maybe Elm Springs if this is her family I found in the census of 1880. I don't know if you have the Fine descendants info from this site: http://www.lovecompany.org/pdfs/Fine.pdf Note: 1. Spencer Forby Fine (settled Springdale - first U.S. Patent to Fine) Spencer, the first son of William and Katie, was 18 years old when his parents made the move to Arkansas. He married Jane Brandon, also a native of Tennessee, who was born 1819. A newspaper clipping in the old John Calvin Fine scrapbook says "Spencer F. Fine died in Washington County, Arkansas on the 21st ult; aged 86 years. He was one of the early settlers of this county." He died in 1896. (Page 16 16) Spencer and Jane became the parents of 12 children, all born in his adopted state af Arkansas. The children are listed as they appear in the 1850-60 census for Washington County: (1) William, b. 1834 (2) Caladonia, b. April 26, 1836 (3) Sophronia, b. Sept. 15, 1837 (4) Malonia, b. 1840 (5) Martha, b. 1842 (6) Carriller, b. 1844 (7) Elizabeth, b. 1845 (8) Savannah, b. 1848. She died before 1860 (9) James, b. 1850 (10) Ann, b. 1854 (11) Clementine, b. 1856 (12) Peter, b. 1858 .Mrs. Stephen L. (Pearl) King, Bentonville, Ark. is a great-granddaughter of Spencer and Jane Fine. She furnishes a list of these children which shows some of them were called by middle names or nicknames. Her list includes William, Davie, London, Forbie, Jennie, Martha, Sophronia, Malonia, Caldonia, and Christine. The Spencer Fine family lived in Prairie Township in 1850 but moved to Clear Creek Township before the 1860 census was enumerated. Little is known about Spencer and Jane's first daughter, ............ Would love to hear back from you! 3. Hi Ray, I'm sorry, but I don't show a Dolly Lynch in my database. My Lynch line came from Claiborne Co, TN to Springdale area by July 1851 when they became members of the Friendship Baptist Church there. In 1857 William Lynch purchased land in Madison Co. and they were listed on the 1860 census in California Twp. He lived out his life there and is buried at the Hickory Grove Cemetery between Clifty and the Best community. He has many descendants still living in Madison, Washington, Benton & Carroll County, but Dolly isn't one of them. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! 3. Thanks for your response. The parents of John Wesley Lynch are William C. & Sarah Jane(Trease/Treece) Lynch as Dorothy's article stated. This information and their date of marriage (27 Dec 1842 in Jefferson Co, TN) taken from the Civil War pension record of William C. Lynch. Sarah died 28 Aug 1851, according to the pension record, and William C. Lynch married in Benton Co, AR as his 2nd wife Mary Mahala White. I'm sorry, but I do not have any information on the Elvey Lynch who married Thomas Couch Jr. Do you have anything on the children of John & Elmira (Fitzgerald) Lynch?
