Researching CRAVENS and ELLIOTT in Washington Co. I am planning a trip to the Fayetteville area in late May. Eliza Jane Cravens (b. 1858 d. 1912) m. Robert A. Elliott Jan. 26, 1879 in Washington Co. They lived in the Sons Chapel area. Eliza's parents, Joshua Cravens and Sarah Anderson Cravens are buried near Sons Chapel. Has anyone researched the Ferguson/Hise families that were in Washington County, Arkansas after the Civil War. My ancestor was Dr. Thomas Robert Ferguson born ca.1820 in Sullivan/Greene County, Indiana and died ca. 1888 either in Oklahoma or Arkansas. His probate records were in Washington Co., Arkansas beginning Jan. 1889. No record of his death or his wife, Eliza Jane. Any help in locating his/her death/burial dates greatly appreciated. This historical tidbit is a back-up to something I've said many times here, just in example form. When doing genealogy and family history, it's important sometimes to step back and ask what assumptions are being made about events, people, motivations by the researcher. Even more importantly, by any sources being used that are written accounts by other people, rather than primary source documents. These are children and spouses of my husband's great grandfather, James Riley HIGHT b 1853 in Mt Ida(?)d 1921 in Hazel Valley & Eleanor (Ellen) BLEVINS b 1853 Big Paint, Johnson Co KY, d 1923 Winslow, bur in Hazel Valley. Mary Caroline Hight (b 1873) & Robert Prichard Minda Jane Hight (b 1876 d 1925) & James Creech Lambert Hight (b 1878 d 1957) & Marquerite Osborn Lavina Hight (b 1880 d 1903) & Elijah Napier Henry Cleveland Hight (b 1885 d 1966 in MI) & Lucinda (Cindy) Osborn Robert Archibald Hight (b 1887 d 1961) & Cora Dockery Jesse (Ernest) Everett Hight (b 1889 d 1977 in CO) & Clera Minnesota (Minnesto) Ramey Ethel May Hight (b 1893) & Benson Smith (Lived in Fayetteville area I think. Have old family photo's of this family, from the 60's, but have no contact.) My husband's father grew up in Washington County, in Prairie Twp or in White River Twp.
