    3. Dear Carol Brown: I don't know if you can look this up, as I don't have very much information to go on. Francis/Frances Catherine Gregg or Ash, I don't know how she is listed, we think she married a Ash before she died; Court records indicate she died in the fall of 1876 and this is all we have to go on. No cemetery or hard date. I will understand if this is not enough information to go on. 2. Shirley A. Redmond
    3. Janelle, I would also be very interested in the transcriptions of the original muster rolls as we have a family reported to have been part of the removal to the Indian Territory and they seem to have settled in Washington Co. Arkansas. Are these on line ? Shirley Redmond original message: I am very interested in the Cherokee removal. Was the group you are studying in Arkansas before the removal, or were they just passing through from the east? I have made transcriptions of 4 original muster rolls of the Cherokee removal from the east (TN, GA, NC). These originals are here in Tulsa at Gilcrease Museum. There were 12 rolls in all, but don't know what happened to the other 8. Janelle

    3. From the information you sent it was an email (eml) message, therefore safe to open. I recall seeing that message, something about the old name of a town or old name of an area somewhere here in Washington County. The town I live in was originally named Orchards, so Vineyards could be a mistake, but lots of Vineyards in the Tualatin Valley too, so the possibility remains open. Viruses of course come in executable packages....so eml, doc, etc., are relatively safe to open. However always take precautions, scan the email messages first if you suspect trouble. It takes only a few seconds to do that. 3. Hello Carol, Do you have a listing for the Baptist Ford Cemetery in Greenland, AR? Information that I got is that Chapman Weeks b. 4 Sep 1818 d. 28 Apr 1878 and Maria (Sowers) Weeks b. 23 Jan 1826 d. 5 Mar 1918 are buried in this cemetery. I had a hard time trying to find them after they left VA. I did find her in KS with her brother in the 1900 Census, but he died in 1910 and I did not know where Maria had gone after that. Are there any other Weeks buried there also? 2. Susan Young
    3. The Arkansas chapter of the Trail of Tears Association will meet Saturday, October 25, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in downtown Springdale. The meeting will focus on the Trail of Tears route through Northwest Arkansas. In 1839, some 12,000 Cherokees traveled through Northwest Arkansas on the so-called "Northern" and "Benge" routes, according to Kitty Sloan of Paragould, president of the Arkansas chapter of the Trail of Tears Association. Speakers at the meeting include Dr. Ann Early, state archeologist with the Arkansas Archeological Survey, who will discuss "Indian Removal and Arkansas Archeology," and Kirby Sanders of the Heritage Trail Partners, who will discuss the work of that group to document historic trails in Northwest Arkansas. The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Arkansas chapter of the Trail of Tears Association, 1-800-441-4513.

    3. There is a Vineyard in Lee County in the eastern side of Arkansas, in 1895 the population was listed as 23 with a post office and neither railroad or express office(found @ www.livgenmi.com/ataruv.htm ) And there is a Vineyard Township in Washington County Arkansas , which is in the northwest corner of the state. Evansville had a population of 306 in 1895 with a post office and no railroad and no express office.(www.livgenmi.com/WashingtonAr.htm ) There is a Vineyard Cemetery in Washington Co. that is listed on line. There were Cherokee settlers there ...at least one family, because my husband's great-grandparents settled there after a brief stop in Newton Co.(They were Samuel Joseph PRICE and Sarah Williams PRICE.) Hope this gives you some information and a starting place. 1. [ARWASHIN] Newton Co. Geneology
    2. I was wondering if anybody here knows anything about any Newton Co. AR email lists. I was on one a couple of years ago and had to drop out of it because so many of the members used it for their own personal gossip and message board, I often had more than 100 emails a day from it!! It was headed up by Judy Tate, a really nice lady, whom I have not been able to reach for some time now. She still seems to be running the Newton Co. geneology site but it doesn't look like anything has been added to that site in quite a while now. If anyone knows how to reach Judy or what is going on with the site and email list, I'd appreciate hearing from you. By the way, my primary names of research are: RICHARDSON, SWAIN, OGDEN, NORTON. Am also interested in the old Elswick farm in Dutch Mills, now owned by the Seward family. My grandparents lived there from 1930 - 1960, before moving to Lincoln. The barn is nearly 150 years old (and about to fall down) and the house is about 3 or 4 years younger than that but well maintained. There was an old, very large tree out front of the house on Hwy 59, said to be used for hangings during the 1860's - 90's. Its been dead for some 20 - 30 years now but the trunk and lower branches are still standing. Thanks and God Bless, Ray Richardson

    1. [ARWASHIN] From List Mom - A few items to help you.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller’s Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to [email protected] not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. If you are having problem and I do not answer you right away, know that I will. I like many of you work full time outside of my home. I am fortunate that I can check my e-mail any time I wish, but know that there are spaces of time I cannot. I always check my e-mail each and every evening and will respond to message that need me then and there. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. On the other hand when the entire message is in CAPS we feel that we are being yelled at. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at [email protected] or in the evenings at [email protected] 7. If your list has the gateway open, meaning the messages posted on the board also hit he list, know that every once in a while a SPAM message that is caught by the Board filter slips through the gateway and hits the list before it can be stopped. JUST DELETE IT. By responding the the list regarding he offending message, you just continue it on, and there is not one thing I can do about it at that point. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. Kathleen Burnett List Mom [email protected]
