Well, hello! Sorry, I've been really quiet lately. Been crazy around here, and I am just now getting back into my responsibilites to you and myself! No, I have no new pictures or obits for you all. Life had a way of getting my priorities changed around a bit. Nothing serious---but, well the heat has kept me in! I thought when we had our record temps, that the Library would be the place to go, but alas, many were very popular for those that needed a cool place to be, and with school out, well----- needless to say, I did'nt get that done. So, if you will bear with me, I will get all caught up on those old, and outstanding! At last count , I have obits for about six people, and cemetery pictures for two people still outstanding. I cannot give the time I had before to do this, but I will be posting what obits I already have from Jan-June, 2006 . These are ones that are in my home, and I will scan and send as requested. These are the only new requests I will take. The ones for late 2004, all of 2005, and a few family file and misc. obits have been put on this list in prior months. Those requests can be fulfilled easily. For anyone that has not already contacted me, I am not doing any more obit hunting or cemetery hopping for a while! Wilma

Bradford married Minnie Meah Merritt in Fayetteville Arkansas in May, 1911. We know that she had a brother Edgar B. Merritt, who was asst. commissioner of Indian Affairs during a period at least covering 1915 to 1926. He was married, but the wife's name is not known. A local notice tells of her brother, Sidney Benton, who visited while on leave from Camp Pike in May 1918. The 1910 census, which answers a few questions, ties Meah and Sidney, adjusting some spelling, and shows that her father is obviously out of the picture for whatever reason, since at least 1886, since Lucinda and Bethel Benton have been married that long. Based on this, there are two more living children, possibly Merritt or Benton names, born to Lucinda that are not accounted for. Census information - Mera M. Merrit age 37 (single) shows up as stepdaughter in the household of Bethel D. Benton and Lucinda J. Benton. Both parents age 58, married for 24 years, his first marriage, her second. She had 5 children, all 5 living in 1910. He shows born in Georgia, as well as his parents She shows born in Arkansas, both parents born in Alabama. They lived at 109 Block Street in the 2nd ward of Fayetteville. There is also a son, Sidney S. Benton, age 15. NARA series T624, Roll 67 Page 239

A. Kinfley listed on the Arkansas Death Index in Washington County. Date of death is Feb 16 1924. They probably just transposed the letters in his name. You might try to order a copy of the death certificate under that name. I did not find his wife listed. The death certificate may list his place of burial and you might find her there. At least one daughter of John Kifer and Veronica Kifer also migrated to Washington Co. AR in the 1870s. Ruhama Kifer b. 1823 md. 1st Patrick Hagan and had a daughter Fannie who married John Boone. Fannie Boon appears in the 1880 census in Washington Co. AR as a widow with two daughters Mary A. Boon and Martha Boon. Ruhama md. 2nd Andrew Wright and had three daughters: Mary Jane b. 1852 who md James Winters, Clara Ellen b. 1855 and Mary E. b. 1865. Rhuehama Right appears in the 1880 census in Washington Co. AR with her son Major T. and daughter Mary E. Also James and Martha J. Winters appear in the 1880 census in Washington Co. AR with four daughters Nancy E. b. 1872, Mary A. born 1873, Ida b. 1875 and Jane b. 1880. Does anyone have more information on these female descendents of John and Veronica Kifer?
