Hi, I'm hoping that I can find someone who can help solve a puzzle regarding the 1860 Van Buren County census. In a recent visit to the Arkansas Archives in Little Rock, a fellow researcher believes that she saw an entry in a printed copy of the 1860 Van Buren County census for Malinda Estes and Sarah Estes. Malinda and Sarah Estes were listed in this printed census as step-children (but we don't know the name of the head of the household). But, this researcher indicates that a subsequent search of the microfilm version of the 1860 Van Buren County census does not turn up ANY Estes entries. (There were Estes children listed in a Bennett Bradford household in Van Buren County in 1870 who could be part of the same Estes family. But, we believe that Sarah Estes and Malinda Estes were both married during the 1860's, and were living elsewhere in 1870.) If someone on this list has access to the PRINTED copy of the 1860 Van Buren County census, we would really appreciate your checking to see if there is an entry for Malinda and Sarah Estes, listed as step-children in the residence of their step-father. Thank you so much, Mike Landwehr
