    3. The records referred to in the message are on the USGenWeb Van Buren Co site. They were transcribed by me and were found on microfilm ordered from the LDS library. They are microfilm copies of the original books from the courthouse. If you want copies of them you will have to order the film from your local LDS library. Jonas HILL (Steven Gillispie) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Sun, 27 May 2007 16:32:30 -0700 From: Steven Gillispie Subject: [ARVANBUR] Jonas HILL To: Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" In August 2005 there was a posting on this list about a family reunion for the descendants of Jonas HILL. The message listed a number of Jonas's children, including his wife Mary. Specifically, it listed Claybourn and Elizabeth. In the 1850 Van Buren AR census a David and Mary CASTLEBERRY with Claburn Hill (29) and Elizabeth Hill (13) is shown in Hartsugg township. In 1860, Claborn Hill and Mary Castleberry are shown together, but no David or Elizabeth. Documents on the rootsweb site for Van Buren County show a number of records for a road being built past the widow Castleberry's place. I assume that this is the same family as in the 2005 family reunion, correct? That same rootsweb site shows that there were probate claims on the estate of Mary Castleberry in 1862-3 and that she died intestate on 3 August 1861. Since this was after the fire of 1859, I thought the county might have these records and wrote to request them. But the clerk said they had nothing until the 1870s due to a flood in the 1980s. Is this correct? So these probate records are lost? My interest is in the daughter Elizabeth Hill. If there are still any Hill researchers listening here, can they post or send me everything that is known/suspected/rumored/guessed/whatever about her?
