David Crockett Bradford and Margaret Leah Graham Bradford: in back Eunice and Keith, Everett on dad's lap, Dee on Mom's lap, Carrie in middle holding doll. Margaret Leah mother was Rachel Webb and dad was Richard Graham, Rachel's parents were John Martin Webb and Elizabeth Sturgill. Her Webb's are from John Webb and Mary Boone. Mary's brother was Squire Boone, the Daniel Boone. His dad is about my 8th greatgranddad. Next pic is Margaret Ellen Harness and granddaughters, on her left is Edna Duke on her right is Adele Shelton. Margaret married John Brown and are parents of most of the Brown's in Van Buren County. Adele is a sister to my grandmother Bessie Shelton Potter. Adele died with typhoid fever when she was about 17. I don't know of any other pictures of Grandma Brown. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

The book is wrong though, the gravemarker says 1788 - 1903. That was probably a typo when they printed the book. However, records show that he was born in 1814. I did ask for alternate spellings. I've seen Prettyman Berry, Purtiman Berry, Pritemon Berry, Berry Prettyman, Barry Prettymon etc. Probably about twenty various spellings. No one can believe that a man was named Prettyman. He was named after his grandfather, Prettyman Berry. bj Reba Dimond wrote: Hi, I have a Van Buren County cemetery book and it shows a Pertiman Berry, 1888 - 1903, buried in Low Gap Cemetery, located .7 mile from Van Buren Rd #9 between Hwy 95 and Hwy 16 West. Needless to say, that is not necessarily true. My husband's grandfather died in 1920 in a small community in Conway Co, AR - his death was not recorded. My husband was born 1922 in Cleburne Co, AR at his parents home. His younger brothers were also born at home, in Conway County, as late as 1930. None of their births were recorded. They all had to get Delayed Birth Certificates when they had to enter the Service in WW II. Also, for giving the Vital Statistics people credit - when they could not find a Delayed Birth Certificate for my husbands mother or the Death Certificate for the above mentioned Grandfather, I received, much later, a letter from Vital Statistics stating that they had searched other Counties and could not find any record for these two. For these early births and deaths your best chance for a record is an obituary or birth announcement in a newspaper. The abstracts of the Morrilton Newspapers in Conway Co, AR is a treasure trove of information. Those small town weekly newspapers had "reporters" in all of the small communities around. . Hi Jess, Yes, it is my information. Looks like a goof on the page too. I need to correct that. It was Prettyman's nephew (also named Prettyman Berry) that married Nancy Taylor. Also, Clayborn is his nephew, not his son. I'll try to get that changed. I know my Aunt's birth certificate can't be found (possibly because the handwritting was bad and filed under some other name) and I know she had a birth certifcate because her mom said she did and all of her brother's and sisters had one. I will apparently have to go to Arkansas and look myself when I can afford to go back there (I live in Oregon). Meantime, is there maybe a local place that might have a death certificate for him? Would death certificates from 1903 be filed in more than one place (like maybe the county)? Thank you in advance, bj berry "A person should think with his heart". You can contact the VB Co. courthouse, the address is on the site.....or you can order the microfilm from your local LDS library and go through it. If you've never used an LDS library - these is one in all the LDS churches....which you probably have in your town or very close by. The film cost is $6 and they will keep it for several weeks at your local location for you to use. Takes about 2 weeks to come in. I "think" I have also posted a list of the film available on the site....maybe on the Whats New page as sometimes they are hard to find on the LDS library site. arvanbur-request@rootsweb.com wrote: Today's Topics: 1. Thank you Peg. I don't think I tried the Morrilton Newspaper yet. I will see if I can track it down. bj Peg Gordon <gordonclan@suddenlink.net> wrote: Per Death & Birth Records in Arkansas: According to "The Handy Book for Genealogists," by Everton Publishing, Arkansas Bureau of Vital Statistics had Death records from 1914 and Birth Records from 1917. Those small town weekly newspapers had "reporters" in all of the small communities around. . I don't remember the details (it's been MANY years ago) but I do remember that the State of Arkansas couldn't find a death certificate for him. Or, would it do any good to send the State of Arkansas Vital Records more money (they keep the money regardless of whether they find any information or not) just in case they missed it the first time around? I know my Aunt's birth certificate can't be found (possibly because the handwritting was bad and filed under some other name) and I know she had a birth certifcate because her mom said she did and all of her brother's and sisters had one. Hi Reba, That is Prettyman Berry (grandpa used a phonetic spelling). He was named after his grandfather, Prettyman Berry. bj Reba Dimond <RebaTSLD@bigriver.net> wrote: Hi, I have a Van Buren County cemetery book and it shows a Pertiman Berry, 1888 - 1903, buried in Low Gap Cemetery, located .7 mile from Van Buren Rd #9 between Hwy 95 and Hwy 16 West. I have been looking, for years, for a Richard S. Evans that I am sure is buried in Van Buren County sometime after 1870 (b/ 1824). I am also looking for a William Pinckney (called Pinkney or Pink) Evans (b/1850) that is buried in Greasy Valley between 1900 and I would guess 1920. I have been unable to find them. Is there any help out there for me? Richard Evans lived around Clinton 1850 as a school teacher. He was still there in 1870, so, I think he died there. It would be such a treat to find these graves...margie hartman, ca On Monday, April 23, 2007, at 12:40 PM, Reba Dimond wrote: > Hi, > I have a Van Buren County cemetery book and it shows a Pertiman Berry, > 1888 - 1903, buried in Low Gap Cemetery, located .7 mile from Van > Buren Rd > #9 between Hwy 95 and Hwy 16 West. P.S. I was hoping that their would be proof of who his parents were. That information should be on the death certificate (if there was one). The names of his parents probably wouldn't be on the probate record, but maybe his brothers and sisters might be named, and that would give me a clue. bj bj berrykeeper <bjberrykeeper@yahoo.com> wrote: Hi Lynn, I have a picture of his gravemarker. If a deceased person had over a certain amount of property....I think it was $300 or mayb $500 they still had to do a court record even if there was no will and many times the death date will be there.
