    3. The River Valley Genealogy Society would like to invite you to the annual Genealogy Expo. This year's Expo will be held in Clinton, Arkansas on Saturday, April 14th. It begins at 12 noon and goes to 4:00 and will be held at the Clinton Senior Center at 570 Yellowjacket Lane. This is scheduled in conjunction with the Civil War Sesquicentennial Celebration Marker Dedication which will be held in the Main Street Park in Clinton at 10:00 that same day.     3. The River Valley Genealogy Society will meet Thursday, January 19, at 6:30 in the Farm Bureau Conference Room in Morrilton. The building is just west of the I40 and Hwy 9 intersection. The program will be presented by Rhonda Norris of Russellville. Rhonda is a Certified Genealogist and photographer. She has many years in the genealogy field. The program will be about those old photos of our ancestors and how to preserve them by scrapbooking. Each person attending should bring 6-8 pictures no larger than 4x6 but can be smaller. Elizabeth Bruce (Surry Co., NC) Jonathan Forrester m. Lucinda F. Millsaps (Macon Co., NC) James M. Forrester m. Martha A. Mason (Macon Co., NC) William Alfred Forrester m. Rachel Nigara Wilson (Macon Co., NC) This Forrester family came from Culpeper Co., VA. Whether that is where they originated is unknown. The parents of John Dogens Forrester were Thomas Forrester and Mildred Dogens. Thomas Forrester died in Surry Co., NC in 1778. Some family trees have this Thomas Forrester being from Orange Co., NC. This appears to be incorrect. Thomas Forrester and his sons John and James went from Culpeper to Surry Co. From there the family went to points west and south. Abstract of the Revolutionary War Pension Application by Mary or Molly Forrister for service of (her husband) John Dogens Forrester or Forrister R3668. Hamilton Co., Illinois Statement of widow Mary Forrister On 4 Dec 1847, Mary or Molly Forrister res of said county age 97 yrs, widow of John Dogens Forrister; entered army as private in fall or winter of 1774 or 1775 in Culpepper (sic) Co VA. Died in Roberson Co TN in Oct 1815. Married 17 July 1778 in Culpepper Co. Va. Maiden name - Mary Jollett Hamilton Co Illinois Dec 1847 Statement of John Forrister Born 28 Aug 1783 in Culpepper (sic) Co VA, now 64 yrs old, left that country in 1787; by Jan 1794, the said John D. and Mary Forrister had nine living children the oldest about 25 yrs old. Statement of Lucy Bolerjack, Hamilton Co Illinois: born 1795, now 54 yrs old. In 1800, John D. and Mary Forrister had 9 living children with oldest being over 30 yrs old. John D. Forrister died Oct 1815. Statement of Fielding Forrister on 6 March 1848 in Rayburn Co Georgia. Fielding Forrister age 78 yrs old last June, his father John Forrister and mother Mary Forrister married 1777 or 1778. Bible Record as part of pension application.     3. The 1st Annual Genealogy Expo will be held Saturday, April 30. The event will be held from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Russellville Outdoor Living Center Recreation Building. There is no charge for admittance and no charge to set up a table with your information or as a vendor. Tables and chairs will be provided. The Expo is sponsored by the River Valley Genealogy Society. The Society was formed in 2009 with a goal of being a genealogy research help group. Members volunteer to help others with their research and “brick walls”. The group covers six counties which include Conway, Faulkner, Perry, Pope, Van Buren and Yell Counties. The Genealogy Expo is an opportunity for those who are interested in genealogy to come together and share information and photos. Those who wish can reserve a table to display their family histories and photos. Visitors will be able to browse through the tables and hopefully make a connection with someone who is also researching their family lines. Many happy connections have been made in the past at such events. This is a great opportunity to share information as well as photos and documents. Vendors with genealogy related materials are also welcome. There will be vendors on hand with various books, CDs and other resources for sale. The sponsor of this event, River Valley Genealogy Society, will have tables set up with the various genealogy helps and aids for research as well as information about the society. The Society has recently compiled an obit book which will be available for purchase. A genealogy bulletin board will be set up where visitors can post queries and contact information in hopes that someone who visits will also be researching those lines.     3. The River Valley Genealogy Society will be hosting a genealogy help day entitled "Genealogy Research in Small Town, USA". This event will be held in the Farm Bureau Conference Room (back of the building) in Morrilton on Saturday, May 22, from 10:00 to 3:00. The Farm Bureau building is on Shady Lane which is just north of the I40 and Hwy 9 intersection. This will be a genealogy help day to assist people who have brick walls or just need to know where to begin. Seasoned genealogists will be on site to help anyone who visits. There will be tables set up with information and a person to help with census research, birth, marriage and death records research, immigration and passenger lists help, courthouse records, genealogy software, where to begin-the basics, online research and many more topics. Reservations are not needed and there is no charge. The public is invited to bring their genealogy problems and needs list to this workshop.
