    3. June 21, 1912 We regret that two of our fellow townsmen engaged in a "scrap" last evening in which... one was slightly carved with a knife. We have not learned the cause of the trouble but suspect a brand of "fire water" had something to do with it. We have been here more than a year and this is he first affair of the kind during our residence. We trust such a thing will not occur again. *Note: no names were mentioned.

Albert Davidson and family, of Leslie, have moved to Crowell mountain to make their home. Mr. Davidson having rented the "Grandpa Moore" place. Sam Hutchins lost a fine coming two-year old mule Wednesday for which he paid $100 cash some time since. Its death was very sudden and cause unknown. John Jennings has been confined to his bed for the past few days, suffering with an attack of his old complaint. It is certainly the wish of his many friends in this township that he could be restored to good health for he is a good citizen and would be of much benefit to his community.

March 22, 1912 Miss Kate Crenshaw, a student of the Clinton High School, was seriously injured Friday morning last, three miles west of Clinton, by being thrown from a spirited horse she was riding. She was enroute home to spend Saturday and Sunday with homefolk. While passing the upper end of the Sneed farm her horse "shied" at some object, wheeled and started to run. In addition to several cuts and bruises she was internally injured, from the effects of which she remained in a comatose state for a day or so. Friends from the community wherein she resides passing in a wagon at the time the accident occurred, conveyed her to her home near Rupert.

    1. [ARVANBUR] SHERLEY/SHIRLEY surname
    2. yvonne henson
    3. Hi listmembers, Does anyone know if persons with the SHERLEY/SHIRLEY surname were in Van Buren County and continued to Conway then to Perry County? I have a James Sherley McArthur born in MS settling in Perry County. I always thought the name Sherley must be a family name but could not find a connection. Last week when the newspaper posting came out a man named Shirley was listed as dying from the epidemic. I thought maybe some family would be somewhere in Van Buren County. Thanks for any tips on this surname. You don't suppose Shirley Ar was named for this family? Thanks for your help, yvonne ____________________________ Colorado Springs, Colorado reply to henson@rmi.net web page: http://www.rmi.net/~henson Names I am researching: Main lines: BRENT(S), GRANT, EDMON(D)SON, HENSON, MCARTHUR Co-lateral lines: BRAZIL, CARLOCK, HARPER ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://home.netscape.com/webmail

    2. Jettie
    3. Today I was given the handout from funeral of my grandfather's sister, Georgia Henley Manning, who lived in Van Buren County AR, and is buried in Pleasant Grove, Scotland Cemetery. She passed away January 1967. The list of Casket Bearers are: Pete Suttles Bill Fennell Clifton Garrett Lester Kincannon Darrell Bailey Pat Yandell Ernest Horsley Now to my question: Does anyone know who Darrell Bailey is or was?? Or, any of the other casket bearers?? I am looking for family of Virginia Bailey Henley, who was Georgia Henley Manning's mother, and it seems to make perfect sense to me that this Bailey could be descendant of a brother of Virginia..... Any and all leads will be followed. Thanks Jettie Henley Parrish, great granddaughter of Samuel Henley and Virginia Bailey (Baily) Henley
