John Tillman Taunton and wife, Mary "Polly" (Brown) Taunton were married in Alabama in 1845 and had eight children which all married in either Union Parish/Union County. My great grandfather, James Eli Taunton married Sarah Ann Gilmore, daughter of William Greene and Lucinda (Miller) Gilmore. My grandmother, Emma (Slater) Taunton was the daughter of Joseph and Sardonia Jane (Ursery) Slater. Sardonia Jane (Ursery) Slater was the daughter of John Boswell and Elizabeth (Farrar) Ursery. The Urserys migrated to Union Parish/Union County from Shelby County, Ala and before that from NC. The Farrars migrated to Union Parish from Perry County, Ala in 1848. My great grandfather on my mother's side was John Frank Canady who married Lourena Dopson in Elmore County, Alabama and migrated to Union County in 1890s. John Frank Canady's parents were John Milton Canady (killed in War Between the States) and Mary Frances Griffith. The Berry side of the family descends from Gabriel Berry who came to Union County from Randolph County, GA prior to 1860. My great grandmother, Margaret "Maggie" Berry married John Bunyan Dollar (who was reared by the Dollar Aunt) was born John Bunyan Lawrence, son of James Lawrence and ???. All of these lines were around Strong, AR. Will share and exchange.
