    1. Re: [Union County] Marriage Help

    3. Specifically, Eliza Martin and Jesse Maberry were married March 15, 1852 in Union County, Arkansas. I have a few copies of marriage licenses I obtained at the Union County courthouse during a visit. The Arkansas licenses have the ages of the bride and groom. If either is under 21, there will probably be a "permission" statement from the parents of the underage person with the license. The marriage licenses are in 5 parts: 1) Bond for Marriage License where the groom pays the $100 fee to apply for a license; 2) Affadavit where the groom and bride state their ages; 3) the Marriage License signed by the County Clerk which authorizes someone to perform the marriage; 4) Certificate of Marriage which is signed by the person performing the marriage; and 5) Certificate of Record signed by the Court Clerk when the license information is officially recorded at the courthouse.
