Al Bollinger alboll@iop.com Notes for Martha Louisa Rachel Witherington: Union County Marriage Records show: William C. Langford (25) to Martha Witherington (16), both of Union County Ark, Novermber 27, 1851 by James Grumbles, JP. Marriage Book 'B', Page 53 (Filed 5 Jan. 1852) Following the death of her mother (Mary King Witherington), Martha lived with the family of Augustus Levan Witherington, younger brother of her father, James Witherington. Martha is buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, a few miles east of El Dorado, AR on State Hwy # 15. Notes for Martha A. Chandler: Info of Judge Landford's second marriage in 1866 was provided by descendant, Al Bollinger. It is said that the Langford family didn't seem to like the second wife, Martha Chandler. There was something about her getting rid of Martha Witherington's beautiful furniture, following her marriage to William C. Langford. 3. HARRIS - DAVIS - KING - PARKER connection in Calhoun County, AR Thanks, Liz..... Don't believe that my Kings got up into Kingsland and Fordyce area. They lived down below Artesian (south of Hampton) in Calhoun County..... arriving there about 1847 from Conecuh County, Alabama. But I am interested in your HARRIS ancestry. My grandmother, SALLIE HARRIS (born about 1869 in AR and died about 1898-1899 in Calhoun County) following the birth of my dad in Dec 1898 in Calhoun County. Sallie was first married to George Washington Parker (1886 in Calhoun County) and had at least two sons (Thomas and Robert Parker). Sallie later married Arthur Edward King (about 10 years her junior) in Feb 1898 in Calhoun County. The name of Sallie's HARRIS father is not known. Her mother (my gr grandmother) was Catherine Caroline (Kate) DAVIS (who first married a Harris and second married WILLIAM R. KING, an uncle of Arthur Edward King (above). Catherine Caroline was born about 1847 and died 1914 in Calhoun County. She and Wm R. King are buried in south Calhoun County (below Artesian) on the Old Moody Farmplace Cemetery. My brothers and I erected a protective steel post & cable fence around the three King gravestones found there. They are the only stones found, but we think that there were other graves there. Have any ideas or suggestions on the missing HARRIS, father of Sallie Harris, who married Catherine Caroline Davis? These graves were disturbed by the church taking part of the cemetery and building over cemetery in 1956. GREENWOOD Jasper d. Dec 1, 1873, age 13 days Kate d. Aug 25, 1872, age 7 yrs 7 mo 27 days Martha d. Aug 25, 1873, age 1 yr 7 mo 16 days Oliver P. d. Mar 25, 1872, age 2 yrs 9 mo 23 days All children of Dr. O.P. and N.L. Greenwood There were no other Greenwoods listed in the cemetery books which have been updated in the last five years or so. I found this in the "Confederate Soldiers Buried in Arkansas" by Rena Marie Knight Dr. C.P. (O.P.?) Greenwood - Methodist Cem. - Union Co. It didn't list any unit, company, or personal bio information. I looked up Greenwoods in the Confederate Soldiers and Widows Pension Index for Arkansas. No luck there. I called First Methodist Church to ask about old cemetery records hoping that had records of unmarked graves. No luck. They directed me to a gentleman who had just completed a survey of all the Methodist churches and associated graveyards in Union Co. I spoke to him and he had no information on any Greenwoods except for the above four children. I'm guessing that with the Confederate burial information that someone put two and two together incorrectly and figured the Oliver P. buried in the church cemetery was the father instead of the infant son. I could find no listing of a burial place for Dr. Robert McHenry. I know this doesn't find the two burial places you seek, but I did want to pass on the info I had found. April Hoover

    3. Specifically, Eliza Martin and Jesse Maberry were married March 15, 1852 in Union County, Arkansas. I have a few copies of marriage licenses I obtained at the Union County courthouse during a visit. The Arkansas licenses have the ages of the bride and groom. If either is under 21, there will probably be a "permission" statement from the parents of the underage person with the license. The marriage licenses are in 5 parts: 1) Bond for Marriage License where the groom pays the $100 fee to apply for a license; 2) Affadavit where the groom and bride state their ages; 3) the Marriage License signed by the County Clerk which authorizes someone to perform the marriage; 4) Certificate of Marriage which is signed by the person performing the marriage; and 5) Certificate of Record signed by the Court Clerk when the license information is officially recorded at the courthouse. 3. Could some one please look up a marriage for a Elizabeth or Liza or Eliza Martin and a Mayberry? It would have been before 1859. There was an Elizabeth Martin living with L D Martin and Rutha Martin in the 1850 cenus. I believe this is my gg grandmother. We have conflicting data. Her marriage certificate to my gg grandfather says Eliza E. Mayberry and James S. Strickland Freestone, TX. Her daughter's death certificate says her name was Liza Martin. The only think I can figure is maybe she married someone else before she married my James Samuel Strickland. The same Martin family listed 1850 in Union Co Arkansas is in Freestone County Texas in 1860 next door to my James and Eliza Strickland. Please help!!!! I am open for slightest leads on this! 1. Re: Hearn(e)/Yocum
    2. Cassie, I think you are on to something. However, I am not related to Wm. P. Hearn. He married my gr grandmother, Mary Rebecca Joiner Hindman in 1883 in Pope County. I am trying to trace her and her son (my grandfather) James Robert Hindman. Both Mary Rebecca and James Robert were on the 1870 census in Lauderdale Co., Alabama. The marriage date is the next and only record I have of her. James Robert married my grandmother in 1898 and died in 1945. I found WM. P. Hearn on the 1860 census in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. I found some land records for him in both Alabama and Arkansas AT LEAST I THINK IT IS THE SAME Wm. P. Hearn. Keep me posted on any further information you find. Thanks much! Dorothy in CA DotsP.
