Successor lists are here, but at another place The successor list for this list is: https://groups.io/g/Arkansas-Genealogy sorry, no county list for this one, yet but the list owner may create "subgroup" for the county alone, within this state list. Go to the site and "join this group". This is easy step. David Samuelsen, subscriber

I am so glad you replied. My grandmother spoke fond of the twins. The twins and her mother would always brought a far away look. Lilly (Plair) Evans had 2 sets of twins and of course many singletons too. I had two sets of twins. My first set was boy/boy and second set was boy/girl. Just like her. The last Evans thing that I attended was Thelma's 90th birthday party in Abilene. It is sad now to want so much information and for it to be too late. I used to kind of ask my grandmother (Sarah (Evans) Mason) about her youth and she did not speak much of it. If she talked about her mother it would bring tears to her eyes. She did say that she was pretty with black hair. My grandmother's hair was black and my mother's. When my dad first met my mom he would call her squaw for fun. I have the actual letter that SE wrote my grandmother many years ago. I will make a copy and send it to you. He states that he saw his mother's mother and that she was Indian and the grandfather was Irish. My sister and I have worked on it for years trying to figure the mystery out! My sister did the haplo group genetic testing and it shows no native American on our maternal side. It has to be paternal. Maybe Melissa Hughes (crippled) was NA on her father's side??? Or Plair...but then they say he was Irish. Have you seen the picture of James Plair and the kids? I am trying to figure out who might be who by the year/age they are. I think I might have a little idea which one could be Tabitha. I would love anymore pictures that you might have. If there is any pictures that my mom has of your side we will work on getting them scanned to you too. I find it so interesting what their lives might have been like. Evans (who wrote the letter) and E.A. Evans who was my grandfather. S.E. and E. A. were identical twins and I talked and visited with S.E. for most of my early life. In fact I bought my house in Texas from S.E. and his wife, Lorene, and just last month I passed by the church near Silsbee, TX where he had his funeral service. Many times I have heard stories from my grandfather, Emmanuel Alton, about his grandparents, especially the one about his grandmother, Tabitha Frisby Plair, who he said was "almost a full-blooded indian." She was washing laundry in the back yard when she was killed by lightening. "They said that her false teeth attracted the lightening." :) I never heard that she was Cherokee, but my grandfather did refer to his grandfather Plair as being Irish. However, I would take that with a grain of salt. It seems that I may have met your mother (aunt?) last summer (?) or summer before last at a reunion in Mesquite held by a daughter of Thelma. I did get hands on this book once for a very short while (History of Strong) and copied some info from it. Anyways, sorry for this rambling missive.
