The ancestry of Arvid M. Holt is well established. However, there have been questions over the past several years about the ancestry of Martha Viola Rogers. Thanks to research done by Dr. Cleatus Lewis, Martha Viola Rogers is apparently listed in the 1900 census of Sharp County, AR as Mattie V. Rogers, age 14 (born Nov. 1886), daughter of Charley A. Rogers and Manerva A. Rogers. The 1860 census for Sharp County, AR lists Charles A. Rogers as being the son of James M. Rogers and Martha Rogers. Martha Viola Rogers Holt died April 5, 1919 in Hugo, Choctaw County, Oklahoma. This Rogers family descends from the Doswell Rogers who is the subject of the book, "The Descendants of Doswell Rogers", by Eleanor Rogers Edmundson. The above James M. Rogers was killed at the Battle of Pea Ridge, AR in 1862. Robert Nicholson
