I am trying to connect with the family of Joab Bumgardner of Sharp County Arkansas. In the 1880 census he has Emma, dau of James & Martha Bumgarner, Alice, Laura, Savana Taylor, children of daughter Elisha Ann Taylor, Joseph, Henry, William J. Bumgarner, children of son William & Caroline Bumgardner. Margaret, dau of James & Martha was married by this time to Joseph Franklin VanMeter. I am trying to find out what happened to Joab & his wife Elleanore, and why did Joab have guardianship of all of his grandchildren. James & William both resided in Woodruff county in the 1870's. I know James died about 1875 as I have probate records concerning the girls. Would like to find out what happened to this family. There were other brothers & sisters to James, William & Elisha Ann. The VanMeter part of this family moved to Tarrant county Texas in the late 1890's & settled in the Bedford-Hurst-Euless area where they still are found today. If you can help me piece togather this part of the family I would be so greatful. Unfortuntly there is no one left today in the family who can help me. Mary C.
