Hi! Going by census and marriage records, I can at least document my 2nd gr grandmother as "Sarah L. BALLARD", b. 1844, TN. Although, the delima comes when I talk with her grandchildren who are still living! They know her as "Elizabeth". If I go by "Elizabeth", I find what is possibly her in the following census information, shared with me, quite awhile back: ================================================================= "Jean, if I'm not mistaken, that area of Sharp Co. would have been in Lawrence Co. earlier like 1850...so here what I show in my whole state census for 1850 Ark. BALLARD, George H. 44 TN, Elizabeth 32 IL., Ursula 12, Davi P. 8, ELIZBETH 6, Morrison 4, Joseph D. 1, WRIGHT, William 18, Thomas B. 13 Dwelling 367, Black river Twp., Lawrence Co., Ark. And: BALLARD, Samuel age 40 TN, Eliza 26 VA, Mary A. 1, George W. 12, Margaret 8, Samuel 6 Matthew 5, Dwelling 368, Black River Twp., Lawrence Co., Ark. Black river seems it's in Independence Co. later. " ========================================================= The strange thing is that in the marriage record and on the census records, she is listed as "Sarah L", and also as born 1844. Note the fact that this Elizabeth, daughter of George H. BALLARD, was also born 1844. Jacquelyn Romberg (on this list) seems to be the person who has accomplished the most on the BALLARDS so far, and she has been very helpful in sharing information with me. Your BULLARDS don't ring a bell with me, but it does seem like these names eventually would lead back to the same common family, doesn't it?
