Dear List, I am looking for my g-g-grandfather James Dallas Carter. There is some info about him in the Ash Flat history book. There it says he is from a pioneer family or something to that effect, but tells nothing of his parentage or where his family came from. Any help would be appreciated. John Haley
Hello John, I think this may be your missing family, just be sure to do your homework. Here is what I find in 1880. James F. Carter Head, Age 23, Born MO, Father TN, Mother MO, Farm Laborer, Martha R. Wife, Age 25, Herself and parents born TN, Keeping House, Joseph D. Son, Age 3, AR, MO, TN, James D. Son, Age 10 months, AR, MO, TN, The information on this census is as of June 1, 1880. This is from Jefferson, Izard Co. AR, Roll: T9_47, Family History Film: 1254047, Page: 346C, ED: 82, I hope this is of some help to you. I will send the 1900 census a little later. As you can see Izard Co. is right next to Sharp Co.
