    3. > Is this Evening Shade the same town where they did the TV show years ago? Yes. They just "borrowed" the name. The show was fictitious (and funny, too). According to my map there are three Evening Shades in AR. The only one with a zip code and likely the one they named the show after is the one in Sharp Co. (My grandmother was born there.) The others are locales in Hempstead Co. a few miles south of Hope and in Scott Co. SE of Fort Smith. The cast from the show helped the citizens of Evening Shade market a cookbook. I've seen copies on eBay. General info: http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/genInfo.php?locIndex=11491 http://timstvshowcase.com/evenings.html Dale

    3. YEs, there was a Mud Town in Izard County. In Down Memory Lane #II, R.T. "Skinny" Bone says: I remember the Ham school house. You go to Bonetown, turn right, and go down past MUDTOWN. " Betty G. McCollum ----- Original Message -----

    2. Not only did the cast of Evening Shade help out there, they also helped raise money for a new gymnasium. I don't think that Evening Shade and LaCrosse were all that close together. Evening Shade is between Ash Flat and Cave City. LaCrosse was more towards Melbourne. 3. Reverend John M. Hill died in Sharp Co. on January 31, 1849. Does anyone know where I might find his obituary? I have the obituary for his wife, Louisa Virginia Brown Hill who died in 1880. They are buried in the cemetery at Nelsonville. I am also searching for info on Dr. Dixon Brown, Louisa's father, who died sometime after 1870.
