He is also in the 1880 census living with Lewis Metcalf and Francis. He is listed as brother in law. My great grandparents were Joseph Lewis Metcalf and Lydia Victoria Petty. Lydia must have died before 1880 and my great grandfather is listed as Lewis and married to a Francis. The oldest child in the 1880 census is 17 and Francis is only 21. When I return home next week I will be able to look at my records and we can exchange more info. My e-mail is shirley1135@hotmail.com. My grandfather married a Louisa Harris and I have ben unable to find any information about her at all. They are listed in the 1910 census with my father Joseph Henry as age 14. There is also a grandchild listed as Martha Whitley. I do not know of any brothers or sisters my father may have had so the grandchild may be from Louisa previous marriage. she was 33 when she married my grasndfather and he was only 20. Any info is appreciated

No problem. You reminded us all of how the forums and mailing lists work. Shoot, I really perked up there for a minute because I would have been thrilled to find a Dye -- any Dye! They were a very elusive bunch. Dale

Hi, Does anyone know if there are school records from the 1860-1880's for Sharp Co? And where would I find them? I have some relatives living in Evening Shade in 1870 census. By 1880, 2 of the kids were married & living in Fulton Co. I'm looking for info on surname BUCHANNAN. George W, Virginia (Adis) & Alexander. Household in 1870 was John, 78, Nancy 50 & these kids. I think Virginia was my gg-grma. I'm actually wondering if John was their grandfather, due to the age difference between him & Nancy. But I wonder if school records might tell me anything. Thanks for any help. Any info on any of these people would be most appreciated. Jackie Harlan Jackie Life is a journey - enjoy the ride!

My line involves Nancy Ann Allen in the 1870 census. They came from Texas Co. Mo. and went back to be there in 1880 census. Can anyone tell me why two women with 2 children would make that trip? Is there something that happened there in the late 1860s to cause that? Any books I could read on Arkansas history to help me? Nancy married John Thomas Watson in Texas Co. in 1884. Had John Samuel and George Daniel and died, left children for John to rear. He moved to Oklahoma around 1900. Thanks littlerockmeme@msn.com<mailto:littlerockmeme@msn.com>
