For Ellen Reesh My Ar. atlas shows Yeager Hollow as being in Lawrence County about 5 miles Southwest of Imboden and lying North of county road 128. It is an area between two ridges and runs Northeast and Southwest. I could not locate Stella. Hope this helps. Lowell
Please read the rules of this list before you post a Virus warning. If you are interested in finding out what is going on with the virus scares you can subscribe to [email protected] I am not saying that knowing about them is not important, I am just saying the Sharp Co., AR list is not the place to begin a Virus discussion. Attachments cannot be sent via Rootweb. We have many members who are so frightened of the word virus they will unsubscribe just seeing it mentioned and never come back again. Just remember two rules - NEVER open an e-mail with an attachment unless you are 100% you know what it is and who it is from -- and then you need to be careful. Also - have a good Virus Protector on your system. I receive over 700 e-mails per day with all of the lists I take care of, am a member of and personal messages. I have not yet been hit because I follow the above rules. Again, Please, if you want to post an announcment on this list that has to do with any thing not involving Sharp Co., AR - you need to contact me first. > Subject: [ARSHARP] Warning > > Said user still sending me virus's. Sheesh. Anyway, anyone got any information > on Willis Buckingham? NC, 1775 The user may not know he is sending out viruses. This is happening on several lists. This particular virus is of a strain referred to as the BadTrans virus. It is NOT being propagated by the Rootsweb server. Rootsweb does not permit attached files to be distributed to the list, and this is how this virus is spread. Specifically, it is spread by responding to UNREAD messages in the victim's email box. Those infected may very well not know they are infected. With that in mind.... One, do not send the persons infected nasty notes about it. They might not know, for one, and secondly...*anyone* could have it. We're all human, last I checked. Secondly, ....check your systems to make sure you do not have the BadTrans virus. If you do not have an antivirus, GET ONE. For those who need one, go to www.grisoft.com and download AVG antivirus. for free If you have an antivirus proggie, update it immediately. Again, this virus sends itself out through the host's unread email, and is hard to detect. It propagates by sending itself in odd attached files. So...if you get an odd message with an attached file, DELETE it. Don't open it, don't scan it....just be rid of it. That said, read the report on this specific critter and take whatever steps are necessary to either protect yourself or be rid of it. While I HATE virus warning discussions (because 99% of them are hoaxes), this one's actually happening. Anne

Hi list, Can anyone tell me where Yeager Hollow AR might be located? My gggrandparents Samuel and Martha Jane (WARWICK) PENDLETON moved there in late 1870 early 1871 from Coffee Co. TN. Samuel and Martha Jane had the following children, does anyone connect: 1.Derinda Elizabeth "Betty m. Russell C. HALEY (they had 18 children all raised in the Izard, Sharp Co. area) 2.Isabel A. m. Ed TAYLOR Oct. 9,1901 by M. Hightower, JP Would really like to find out what happened to all the sibs in this family. I know that Samuel must have died before 1900, I found Martha Jane and Nora in the 1900 cenus but I have no death date for Samuel but Martha Jane was still in Pleasant Hill in 1900. Nora's marriage licence in 1901 says her place of residence is Stella, Izard Co. Does Stella still exist? Thanks for any help you can give. Ellen Tolleson Reesh

Hi Ginny, I was happy to post the obituary on D. C. Ring and now even more so, I can add his Christian name to my notes in the book that I will publish on the abstracts and extracts of the Monette Sun. This is a very slow project as I have to use one of only two copies of the microfilm at the Jonesboro library. I am trying to get the AR History Commission to make copies but it will take time. About 20 months ago I took a trunk load of these newspapers to Little Rock for filming (1930's to 1960's) and they have finally completed the project. I ordered my 7 rolls of film, and am now waiting very impatiently for them to come. I will continue to post anything pertinent to Sharp Co. to the list. Dear List Members, I was asked to send this out to you by the Arkansas Archives Project. We need some help with the Arkansas Archives Project. Earlier this year we sent out an appeal and did get a few more gracious volunteers. However, there is always too much to do and too little time for those of us who work fulltime. Take a look at our project. Arkansas USGenWeb/ARGenWeb Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ar/arfiles.htm The projects require that volunteers be able to handle text files and html files. ASCII files are linked on html pages. In addition, volunteers must ftp in ASCII mode and Binary mode. All of the projects are located on Rootsweb fileservers. Rootsweb requires that all copyright laws be honored. Materials copyrighted after 1926 may not be placed in the archives. We need volunteers for the following projects within the Archives: Statewide Surname Project: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ar/family.html County Archives: Arkansas, Ashley, Baxter, Benton, Boone, Bradley, Carroll, Chicot, Clark, Cleburne, Columbia, Craighead, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Dallas, Desha, Faulkner, Fulton, Grant, Greene, Hempstead, Howard, Izard, Jefferson, Lee, Lincoln, Little River, Logan, Lonoke, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Poinsett, Polk, Prairie, Pulaski, Searcy, Sevier, Sharp, St. Francis, Stone, Unknown, Van Buren, Washington, White, and Woodruff. Also, the Arkansas Archives Coordinaor, Jacquelyn Bonds, would like to remind everyone that Faulkner County is adoptable in The ARGenWeb/USGenWeb Project. Faulkner County Page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~arfaulkn/ If you are interested in adopting any of the Arkansas Archive counties listed above, please contact Jacquelyn Bonds at [email protected] Thanks you!

I am abstracting genealogical data from the Monette Sun (Craighead Co.) AR newspapers. The following obituary of Rev. D. C. Ring says he came from Sharp County. I thought perhaps this might help someone. I am NOT researching this surname. MONETTE SUN, Published at Monette, Craighead, AR Friday, October 28, 1921 Baptist Preacher Crosses Over - Rev. D.C.Ring, for 38 years an active and d prominent Baptist minister has answered the final summons, the death angel having borne his saintly soul back to its Creator last Tuesday evening. The deceased was 70 years old and death came quietly following a general breakdown at the home of his son, Henry Ring with whom he resided in the Old Town Ridge community. The burial followed the next afternoon at Macey, services being conducted by Prof. Billinsby. Reverend Ring leaves then children, the eldest a daughter who is 50 years of age. He has resided in this community for the past eight years and was active in ministerial work up until a very short time before his death, having conducted a meeting this summer. He came to Monette from Sharp county, where he was reared and for so many years labored in the cause of his master. The bereaved have the sympathy of the entire community. *Old Town Ridge community is what is now Lake City, Craighead, AR.
