I am making a desperate attempt to locate information on a great aunt Louiza (Liza) J. Gates. She was the daughter of Michael C. Gates and Piercy Prevett Gates of Randolph Co AR. Liza, also shown as Eliza in some records was born in Randolph Co AR Nov 1879. She appeared in the 1880 and 1900 Randolph Federal census records. By 1901 she seems to have disappeared from the area and her family. No marriage record so far, no burial site so far. She is not listed in the probate records for her father and grandfather who died in 1911 and 1912, not even as deceased. I would be most grateful for ANY help with her. It bothers me that she seems to have disappeared and no one remembers her. In order to keep this short I will not list all the places I have looked. But I am hoping against hope that she may turn up on a marrige index that I overlooked in one of the counties. I apologize for duplicate queries you may get...but my Gates lines were in all these counties at one time or another. Thanking you in advace and praying for a clue. I have just been corrected by someone who has actually seen the marriage license of WILLIAM D.M. SCONCE and MARIE BOOTH.. Please note that Wm's 2nd wife was MARIE not Mamie as I first reported.... Listed in the 1910 Randolph County, AR book some of this: 45. William D.M. SCONCE. Born on 3 Sep 1867 in Randolph County, AR. William D. "Uncle Will" died aft 1910; he was 42. Listed in the 1910 Randolph County book that he married MARIE BOOTH. Had 207 acres (75 in use) in the Union Township, Yadkin, Ark. as of 1910. Had 5 children: Stella, Della, Farrell, Margie and Lora. NOW, does anyone have any scoop on this couple?? Lanita
Looking for any info on: William D.M. SCONCE and his wives and descendants!! 1st wife was: Amanda ROGERS SCONCE; (27 Sep 1875 - 12 Feb 1897). buried at Yadkin Cem., in Randolph Co. AR After Amanda's death, Will married Mamie BOOTH..and they are listed in the 1910 Randolph Co. AR book.. Looking for any info on whatever happened to them, where descendants would be located, where he and Mamie are buried!! William D. M. SCONCE was my ggrandfather's brother, and they seemed to have dropped off the face of the earth!! HELPPP!! Any help in locating their burial place, and descendants, will certainly be appreciated!! Lanita Sconce Miller
Hi: Desmond does have the 4th death index to 1948, I think as I am away from home. These books are wonderful and so much help. Happy Haunting, Marian

Hi Karen, When I was in Arkansas the 1st of this month I found the following information and thought you might like to have it. The article was very graphic on the accident. Mildred > 15. MEREDITH7 BRIM (ROBERT W.6, JOHN5, JOHN4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was > born Abt. 1849 in Haywood Co., Tennessee. He married RUTHA WALLING. > She was born Abt. 1850 in Tennessee. > > Child of MEREDITH BRIM and RUTHA WALLING is: > i. WILLIAM L.8 BRIM. > > William L. Brim b. 1870 d. April, 1881 William was the step son of Jack Werner and was killed by a mule. He was caught in the harness when the mule spooked and he was dragged to death. According to the newspaper clipping " his head was mashed to a pulp." This came from the Sharp County Record, April 7, 1881. This was in Calamine, Sharp County, Arkansas. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carrell Still <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2001 5:03 PM Subject: [ARSHARP] WERNER, OSBURNE,WALLING,DENTON,BRATCHER,RATLIFF, UNDERWOOD > Researching: > WERNER: George F. > OSBURNE: Milly, John, Elizabeth > WALLING: Rutha, Thomas, Susan > DENTON: Susan > BRATCHER: Amos, Malissa Jane > RATLIFF: Zachaes Elam, Malissa Jane > UNDERWOOD: Mary > > Thank you, > Karen Werner Still > >

Dear Kathleen, Thank you very much for your rememberance letter regarding our ancestors and the ancestors of those from different lands and cultures. I do believe that if all of us would gain the same perspective about the importance of genealogy and the diversity of others, that we would all be reminded of just how close we all really are,and thus, ultimately related to one another. God Bless You, Yours, and Ours as we share the same feelings this weekend, Love, Patti Goodman (Pierce, Roberts, Jackson, Gaither, Coonrod, Pruitt, Zumwalt, Widner, Foster, Gay, Zumwalt, Drestern, Bowden, etc., etc., etc.,) McSwain ----- Original Message ----- From: Kathleen Burnett Sent: Friday, May 25, 2001 9:47 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [ARSHARP] From List Mom Regarding Memorial Day Postings Dear List Members, Remember as you think about posting a message to the list regarding Memorial Day, that some of our members are not from the United States. Dear List Members, Many of you may already know about the "Historical Maps of the United States" site located at http://www.lib.utexas.edu/Libs/PCL/Map_collection/histus.html But I just found it and it is wonderful. I have spent the last few hours going through some of the maps and it helped me so much to understand some of the strange migration patterns of my ancestors. Enjoy, and have a wonderful weekend.
