Hi folks! I've added yet another article to my web site for your information and amusement. This one is: "A Brief History of the Disposition and Administration of the Public Domain in Arkansas to 1908." It briefly highlights for readers the public land laws reflected by the land patent information, and outlines how those laws operated in Arkansas. To get to it, go to the URL in my signature block below, click to go to the Genealogy page and then scroll to the bottom of that page. Then click on the title displayed there to bring up the article which is in PDF format. It will take a bit to download the article, so be patient. -- Robert W. Hello Lew Roberts!!!! Your message is like a bolt out of the blue. I have been trying for years to find ANYTHING concerning my Grandma. The info you have sent on Margaret is correct up to a point. The census for Sharp Co. for 1900 lists Margaret , age 25, son Ransom, age 2, living with her brother John W. Roberts, wife Cora. Also states that Margaret is a widow. This is the question I have had for many years. Who is the father of my mother? Mollie was born in Citra Ok. March 2, 1904. She never questioned her mother about her father. She was known as Mollie Inez Gibson. Grandma came to California around 1914 or 1918 with her 2 children. They worked in the fields up and down the San Joaquin Valley. Ransom never married. He and Grandma always lived together and owned a small house in Armona where I was raised. Not in the house, but in Armona. Mollie, my mother, married Ray G Waite Dec 31, 1925. I was born Oct.29, 1933, an only child. I married Herbert E Schmidt, Dec. 5th, 1953. I have 5 children and 14 grand children. Am expecting the 1st great grand child in September. I would love any thing you have on the family. I have info back to Moses Roberts, but not any further back than him. Grandma was very closed and quiet about her family. What info I have came from others, not her. Hi, Be sure to take a look for NEW early land records at this website. They have a Tiff viewer to look at the records, but that takes about 2 minutes to download. http://eagle.vsla.edu/lonn I found my Mansfields there in 1619. :-) Jeri [email protected] wrote: > > Subject: > > ARSHARP-D Digest Volume 01 : Issue 136 > > Today's Topics: > #1 Gardners at Evening Shade, Piney F [Bob & Jan <[email protected]>] > #2 [ARSHARP] The Library of Virginia [Kathleen Burnett <[email protected]] > #3 [ARSHARP] (no subject) [[email protected]] > #4 [ARSHARP] marriage ["norma schmidt" <[email protected]] > > Administrivia: > To unsubscribe from ARSHARP-D, send a message to > > [email protected] > > that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > > and no other text. Hi, I am interested in researching my husband's family, the Gipson's. I am aware that there were some Gipson's that helped build the Bear Creek Church. My husband's grandfather, Henry Lee Gipson, was the only boy of eight children. The parents were Jonas Lafayette Gipson and Myrtle Lee Young. Myrtle was born in Pocahantus, AR. I have Jonas as having Daniel Gipson as his father and Nancy Walker, his mother. What has make this interesting is that my aunt, on my mother's side, Christine (Endsley) Haley, who lived in Ash Flat, has a grand mother named Martha America Gipson. Martha's father was named Daniel Gipson. I suspect that Martha and Jonas were first or second cousins, they were both born in the 1870's. Any help on this subject would be appreciated. Annmaree Gipson

Does anyone out there have any info on marriage of Margaret E. Roberts to a Mr. Gibson sometime around 1895? Date and year unknown. I am her granddaughter. Thanks
Dear List Members, This site was shared with me today and I am thrilled with it. If you have or might have ancestors who were from Virginia, you need to check this one out. Plan on spending some time. There is a lot of information. http://www.lva.lib.va.us/dlp/index.htm "The Library of Virginia's Digital Library Program (DLP) is an internationally recognized effort to preserve, digitize, and provide access to significant archival and library collections. The DLP transfers rare and unique Virginia materials into an integrated, user-friendly electronic research environment. Is there information available about what was going on at Evening Shade between 1870-80. My James H. Gardner family who had been residence of that area at least by the 1830s is not to be found after the 1870 census although one daughter Tempy Jane Gardner did marry a Goodman in 1879 (don't have the document) in Sharp Co. and headed South to around Union Co, AR, then TX, then back to Polk Co. It seems strange that a family who had lived in the same place so long just left with no traces. Any ideas? Thanks, Jan Gardner Kuykendall

Hi List Wesley A. ENDSLEY married my half gg aunt Emma Hackney on 16 Sep 1900 in Sharp County, Arkansas. I have been browsing through the 1800 Richwoods Township Sharp County census today and see quite a few Endsleys listed. Could someone on this list give me some insight as to who might be Wesley's parents? At age 23 Wesley was a boarder in Calvin D. RITCHIE's household. Calvin was my gg grandfather. Marcia in CA
