    1. [ARSHARP] What Cemetery Was In Highland twp., Sharp County??
    2. Jean Mayfield Cuevas
    3. Good Morning, All. I was told by Dad's cousin that our John D. Ferguson and Elizabeth Ballard Ferguson were buried in Highland Cemetery. Does anyone know what the name of that cemetery would be? I checked out the Sharp County Cemetery site and didn't see a listing. Also, do you know where Duty Twp, Lawrence County, would be in present-day Sharp County? It appears on an old twp map to be near Black River and Portia. Thanks for any help you might be able to give! Jean Cuevas

    3. I got a copy of this in a reprint. It was printed 1998 by Ash Flat Historical Society, which was an offshoot of the local genealogical society. Windmill Publications publisher, 6628 Uebelhack Rd. Mt. Vernon IN 47620. The local society is Sharp County Historical Society at PO Box 185, Ash Flat AR 72513 and yearly dues are only $10.00. They might be able to find you a copy of the book, however I went through the index in the book and there were no Hibbs or Decker listed. There were Jacksons but no William Riley Jackson. No Lemew or Lemeiux. I'm sorry no gold strike there. You might also check the BLM land records page and see if you can find a homestead for those names. -- Connie Smith Kettle Falls, WA (northeast WA, Stevens County) Mail to:[email protected]

Can anyone tell me how I can obtain the entry in the Sharp County Record Newspaper in which these people are mentioned? 3. The Sharp Co. Record newspaper microfilm is available at the Arkansas State University Dean B. Ellis Library, the Batesville Public Library and the Arkansas History Commission. The microfilm may be purchased from the History Commission for $30. per roll for out of state purchasers. I have no idea if they would ship to Australia. If you will send me the list of items you are seeking (I have the index) I will try to make copies for you in the next couple of weeks. I don't often get to the ASU library but would be glad to help someone from down under. Joyce Hambleton Whitten [email protected]

    3. Thanks for the online address for the Abstracts book. Unfortunately my Smith line is not there either during that time period. So I've saved some money but still no answers. I'm pretty sure Braxton SMITH died in Sharp county after 1870 (he was 69 in that 1870 census), but I am having a hard time finding him. His son Leonard H. was there and then moved to Fulton County in 1878, but a history of Leonard is found in the Ash Flat history book, so he left relatives in Sharp county. If there is a good book listing the cemetery gravestones of Sharp county let me know. -- Connie Smith Kettle Falls, WA (northeast WA, Stevens County) Mail to:[email protected]

    3. Dear List Members, If you feel that something is not being done correctly by the members, such as the incorrect information in the subject lines, non-subject postings, etc., please contact me, do not post your suggestion to the entire list. Many times I am behind the scenes taking care of the very problem you are concerned about, by sending instructions to the person who needs the instruction. I hardly ever send this to the entire list. There are over 150 of you on this list. If each of you sent instructions to the list regarding your suggestions for a better run list, we would be overrun with postings dealing with subjects other than those regarding Genealogical research in and around Sharp Co., AR. I appreciate your help and your support in this matter.
