    1. [ARSEBAST] BATES family of Sebastian Co
    2. William G. Bates
    3. I have recently discovered a connection that put several BATES families of Sebastian Co into my Bates Family ancestry. We are looking for information on John C. BATES; born about 1825 in York Co, SC with brief sojourn in Carroll, Madison Co, Tn and Obion Co, Tn before moving to Arkansas to be near his brothers, Robert Ellis BATES, Thomas Jefferson BATES, and William J. BATES who had possibly moved here with their mother after their father's death. All the younger boys may have stayed in Johnson Co, Ar for a short period as one them was married there before being found in Sebastian Co. John was married to cecilia CHAPLIN in Obion Co, Tn and she dies in Sebastian Co in 1880. He marries Martha A. Ming (Mrs) later that same year but we have little information on Martha other than the marriage and that the implication is that she was a widow. John had four daughters, Ellen, Francis M, Nancy E, and Tigette but we only have information on Tigette and looking for information on the other three particularly whom they married. There is another brother, Zachariah M. Bates, whom is reputed to have come to Arkansas but I have not located him anywhere at this time. If anyone has any information on any of this family would appreciate contact and exchange of information. Bill Bates (Texas)

    3. Try googling : USGENWEB PROJECT The go to the Arkansas link, followed by the Sebastian County Link. That might be a start, as they do have some of the Sebastian County Census' up online and for free. Good luck! ----- Original Message ----- From: "William G. 3. I am quite familiar with the USGENWEB project which has just recently split from RootsWeb when Ancestry.com bought the website and made it part of Ancestry. I have been researching just about all the southern Alabama using the county & State GENWEB sites and recently found the USENWEB Archives (pre gobbled up RootsWeb) which has a considerable amount of information in "Cold Storage" on USGENWEBARCHIVES.com which includes quite a lot of old cemetery listings. I have also exhausted the Sebastian County ArGenWeb availability. However, it is the most recent information, 1900-today, that very few web sites are allowed to carry that we are looking for and especially "KENFOLK" to really fill out the database. Anyway, tks for the suggestion and che-ers Bill B On Jan 27, 2009, at 12:45 PM, Deborah/Bobby Musgrove wrote: > Try googling : USGENWEB PROJECT > The go to the Arkansas link, followed by the Sebastian County Link. > That might be a start, as they do have some of the Sebastian County > Census' > up online and for free. > Good luck! > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "William G.
