Harold E. GILMER, 74, of Oakdale, Calif., formerly of Mena, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, in California. He was born April 9, 1927, in Tennessee. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) No. 332, the American Legion, the Assembly of God and was active in the Light For the Lost. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in First Assembly of God with burial at Pinecrest Memorial Park under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Oakdale, Calif.; a son, Richard Gilmer of Oakdale, Calif.; a brother, Charles Gilmer of Escalon, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Wayne GARDENHIRE, 89, of Mansfield died Monday, July 30, 2001, in his home. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired service station owner, a member and deacon at Mansfield First Baptist Church. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Mansfield First Baptist Church with burial at Coop Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Mansfield. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Godwin of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Chris, Brooks and Stuart Godwin, Susan Pyles, Cullen Gardenhire, Kelly Moulton and Kim Bentley, and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chris, Brooks, Stuart and Levi Godwin, Bruce Pyles, Michael Freeman, Joshua Burton and Cullen Gardenhire. Marvin "Mendy" MENDENHALL, 77, of Barling died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in his home. He was a Mason and served in the Navy. He was an owner-operator for Mendenhall Wrecker Service. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated. He is survived by his wife, Virginia "Maw" Mendenhall of Barling; a daughter, Pat Martin of Rudy; two sons, Richard Mendenhall of Barling, and Marvin Jackie Mendenhall of Sallisaw; a sister, Lucille Holloway of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Tammy Blanchard of Fort Smith, Kevin Dye of Washburn, and Teresa Jones of Rudy; and four great-grandchildren, Brianna and Bailey Jones, Keaton and Kelsey Dye. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
