    2. Emily Sharon SCHALSKI, 52, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, in her home. She was a homemaker. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated. She is survived by her husband, Doug of Barling; a daughter, Mona Clemmons of Roland; a stepdaughter, Michelle Schalski of Fort Smith; a son, John Foster of Holdenville, Okla.; a stepson, Douglas Schalski Jr. of Fort Smith; a sister, Tina Hubbard of Fort Smith; and four grandchildren. The body may be viewed 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Charles Wesley CHELF, 93, of Spiro died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Alva, Okla. He was the widower of Dorothy Gorsching Chelf. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. He is survived by two daughters, Juaneta Coulter of Amarillo, Texas, and Margie Heath of Alva, Okla.; three stepdaughters, Glenda Young , Susie Carter and Eva Wilhite, all of Spiro; three sons, Charles and Richard Chelf, both of Amarillo, Texas, and Roy Chelf of Henryetta, Okla.; a stepson, Duane Mahar of Panama; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Reba Miller BURT, 63, of Mulberry died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in Mulberry. She was a homemaker and a member of the Art Council in Van Buren. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Mount View Cemetery in Hackett. She is survived by her husband, Ted; two daughters, Karen Lavonne Hudson of Ozark, and Janice Doss of Piedmont, Okla.; a son, Teddy Burt Jr. of Ozark; her father, Wilson Miller of Hackett; a sister, Hilda Sue Mars of Fort Smith; three brothers, Billy H. Miller of Pleasanton, Kan., Leon and Robert Miller, both of Hackett; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Glenn Warren, Ralph Spencer, Terry Massengale, Billy and Ron Miller and Kevin Amer. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burl BRUCE, 88, of Orange, Calif., died Saturday, July 28, 2001, in his home. He was an Army veteran and of World War II, a retired lineman for Edison Power Co. and a member of the Elks Lodge in Orange, Calif., for 60 years. He was the widower of Sybil Bruce. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Hartford with burial at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford. He is survived by his daughter, Burldene Cogburn of Orange, Calif.; a sister, Nora Brown of Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, Pat Bruce of Oceanside, Calif., and Claudis Bruce of Midland; a grandson, Brian Cogburn of Sammamish, Wash.; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Harper of San Diego. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bruce, Homer, Michael and Aaron Files, Charlie D. Posey, Bob Easton and Bobby Frazier. Marian Pearl COLE, 72, of Fort Smith entered into rest Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001. She was the widow of Marvin Kenneth Cole, the owner and operator of Marian’s Beauty Shop for 50 years, and a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Ann Plank of Rudy; two sons, Christopher Cole of Seattle, and Tim Cole of Fort Smith; one sister, Patricia Wheeler of Fort Smith; five grandchildren, Heather and Shawn Parks, Emily, Sarah and Adam Paul Plank; two great-grandchildren, David Chanse Harp and Catherine Isabel Harp, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Drawer 34164, Little Rock, AR 72203. Johnnie E. HAYS, 72, of Lavaca entered into rest Tuesday, July 31, 2001, in his home. He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Judge Parker’s Historic Site. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Irene; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tony and Margaret Sanders of Cashmere, Wash., Kevin and Darlene Torkelson of Charleston, and Robbie and Evelyn Geheb of Lavaca; five sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Karen “Carol” Hays of Lavaca, Johnny and Sharon Hays of Lavaca, David and Glenda Hays of Galena, Mo., Rick and Lydell Hays of Hot Springs, and Joe and Edith Hays of Lavaca; one sister, Ann Richards of Sarcoxie, Mo.; three brothers, Frank of Colorado Springs, Colo., Richard and Tommy, both of Ardmore, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one stepgreat-grandchild. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca with burial at Oak Valley Cemetery south of Lavaca.
