77-41 from "The Henderson Green GENTRY Family," "...Another neighbor of the Gentry family named SMART. Mr. SMART was a restless sort of fellow with a strong desire to be a big wheat farmer. So he sold his farm along Vache Grasse Creek, and moved to Spokane, Washington, where he bought a large wheat farm. Before he left Greenwood, he talked until midnight trying to convince Hense GENTRY to sell his farm and move with him to Washington. Hense GENTRY would not give up the security of his home and farm for an unknown adventure in the far West. The SMART family prospered in Washington growing wheat and the boys returned to Greenwood for visits and always painted a flowing picture of wheat farming in Washington. They sent Hense a picture of 35 horses pulling a combine to (harvest) their wheat. The picture is still in the family. The SMART boys also told about the bitter cold weather in Eastern Washington."
