Hi, everyone...these are the obituaries for today from Fort Smith, Ar., SW Times Record: Robert Cameron LUFKIN, Texas — Robert Alexander Cameron, 87, of Lufkin, Texas, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, in Lufkin. He was a self employed painting contractor, a member of First Congregational Methodist Church in Lufkin, Texas, a Scout leader for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. He was the widower of Emogean Cameron. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Laird McGill Funeral Home of Nacogdoches, Texas. Local arrangements are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. He is survived by a daughter, Laura McCarthy of Rockland, Mass.; a son, Bill Cameron of Lufkin, Texas; a sister, Alice Penny of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Jennifer and David McCarthy, both of Boston, Robert Cameron of Lufkin, Texas, and Lance Cameron of Monterey, Calif. Elizabeth Dugan MENA — Elizabeth Dugan, 96, of Mena died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, in Mena. She was born July 9, 1905. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal. She was the widow of Harley Dugan. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Cecil Chapel Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Trudy West of Stilwell, Okla., and Margie Smallwood of Mena; three sons, Joe and Chester Dugan, both of Mena, and Van Dugan of Portland, Ore.; 13 grandchildren, and several great and great-great-grandchildren. Roy Walters Roy Lee Walters, 74, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in his home. He was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II, a truck driver and a member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday in Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Phyllis Wright of Fort Smith and Brenda Harvel of Van Buren; two sons, Robert “Buddy” Walters of Lavaca and Gary Walters of Van Buren; a sister, Willene Hughes of Van Buren; two brothers, James and Billy Walters, both of Alma; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. William Minden William “Bill” M. Minden, 90, of Fort Smith died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus No. 996, Catholic Knights of America, Subiaco Alumni Association, A.A.R.P. and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday in St. Boniface Catholic Church with a 2 p.m. graveside service at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleston. He is survived by his wife, Rosia; four daughters, Agnes Carson of Charleston, Anna Morrow of Olathe, Kan., Alicia Minden of Springdale, and Angela Cyr of Stillwater; seven grandchildren, Michael Locknar, Cindy Savage, Donald and Stephen Bagley, Richard Morrow, and Jennifer and Julie Cyr; and seven great-grandchildren. Netha Brown DARDANELLE — Netha Carlene Brown, 79, of Dardanelle died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, in her home. She was a retired office manager for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department in Russellville. She was the widow of Loren Kenneth Brown. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Dardanelle Funeral Service in Dardanelle with burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville. She is survived by a daughter, Lorna Jean Vanlandingham of Tulsa; a son, James Ronald Brown Sr. of Dardanelle; six grandchildren, Lora Vanlandingham of Tulsa, James R. Brown Jr. of Dardanelle, Dawn Surprenant of Frisco, Texas, Loren “Bud” Vanlandingham of Owasso, Okla., Robbi Salters of Dardanelle, and Bobby Brown of North Little Rock; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bobby and James R. Brown Jr., Loren “Bud” Landingham, and Paul Surprenant. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ruth Simmons BISMARCK — Ruth Arleen “Fitch” Simmons, 73, of Bismarck died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in Paris. She was a homemaker, a nurse’s aide and a Baptist. She was the widow of Willy Robert Simmons. Services will be at a later date at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, Calif. Local arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home of Paris. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ramariez of Bismarck; two sons, Tom Parrett of Roseville, and Seco Brown of Modesto, Calif.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mary Marie Routledge, 42, of Commerce, Texas died Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, in her residence. She was a dog groomer and a Baptist. Funeral will be 1 p.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith. She is survived by two daughters, Sara Routledge of Rowlett, Texas, and JoAnna Routledge of Commerce, Texas; her parents, Leon Moore of Greenville, Texas, and JoAnn Farrell of Lakewood, Calif.; paternal grandmother, Grace Moore of Van Buren; four brothers, Richard Moore of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Barry Don Moore of Greenville, Texas, Harley Sorrell of Van Buren, and Hubert Bell of Lakewood, Calif. Kenneth Byron McGruder was born Sept. 13, 1939, and died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001. Some people’s success effects thousands of lives and all those who knew him are saddened at the passing of Ken McGruder. The son of Lee Roy and Beulah McGruder (both deceased). Ken McGruder is survived by his first wife, Maxine McGruder of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Brent and his wife, Judy and grandchildren, Leigh and Trey of Fort Smith; a daughter, Gail and husband, Lane Shumaker and three grandchildren, Pate, Trevor and Audra of Golden, Mo. Ken is also survived by his loving wife, Demetria, partner, best friend and faithful companion; a daughter, Marty and her husband, Justin Coones of Cassville, Mo.; a stepson, Dennis Caudle of Jenkins; two sisters, Shirley Carr of Cassville, Mo., and Janice McGruder of Springfield, Mo., one brother, Jim McGruder of Neosho, Mo., and three nieces, and four nephews. Ken was strongly devoted to his family and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cassville, Mo. Ken attended Exeter High School and went on to receive a degree from Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, and served in the Army as a First Lieutenant in the 101st Airborne Division. Ken founded K-MAC Enterprises in 1967 with a single Griffs Burger Bar and K-MAC now operates multiple Taco Bell, KFC and Golden Corral locations throughout the midwest. K-MAC Enterprises received the prestigious Glen Bell Award in 1998 and was named the top Taco Bell franchisee in the entire country in 2000. Ken retired in 1996 to live his life long dream of being a cowboy at his KMAC Double Down Ranch in Cassville, Mo.
