    3. Hi, gang. The following are the obituaries for Times Record, Ft. Smith, Ar. today: Marcus Wheat Jr. SPRINGDALE - Marcus Edward Wheat Jr., of Springdale died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001. He was born Sept. 3, 1926. He served as an officer in the Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine and came to Springdale in 1952. He served this community as a family physician. He was co-founder of Fellowship Bible Church of Springdale where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher. He founded Bible Believers Cassettes, Inc., the world's largest free loan library of Bible teaching cassettes. He was a Christian marriage and family counselor, founding Scriptural Counsel, Inc. He authored four books on Christian marriage and family life. He served a term as chief of staff of Springdale Memorial Hospital, as well as serving on several boards in various civic clubs and medical societies at the county, state and national level. Funeral was held Monday in Fellowship Bible Church of Springdale with graveside service Tuesday at Lonoke Cemetery in Lonoke under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale. He is survived by his wife, Gay; three daughters, Melinda Mason of Springdale, Joy Shoemaker of Tulsa, and Merry Ann Peoples of Fort Smith; a sister, Ann Bryan of Benton; and 11 grandchildren. Lewis Brown Jr. HEAVENER - Lewis "Buck" Brown Jr., 71, of Heavener died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in Heavener. He was a retired truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park in Heavener under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener. He is survived by his wife, Lois; four daughters, Linda White of Fort Smith, Sharon Willey, Leigh Cranfield, and Amy Davis, all of Heavener; three sons, Bryan, John and Benjamin Thompson, all of Heavener; two sisters, Barbara Davis of Poteau, and Gail Boisa of Rio Linda, Calif.; two brothers, Dick Brown of Heavener, and Bill Brown of Edmond, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Delores Henson SPIRO - Delores J. Henson, 65, of Spiro died Wednesday, Sept. 19,2001, in Spiro. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. She is survived by her husband, Carl; two daughters, Carla J. Crossno of Barling, and Patricia A. Teufel of Woodland, Texas; her mother, Norman Ruth Richison of Spiro; four sisters, JoAnn Dempsey of Fort Smith, Pamela Underwood, and Cindy Bell, both of Spiro, and Janet Ward of Athens, Texas; a brother, Joe Ray Richison Jr. of Spiro; and three grandchildren. William McDaniel HATFIELD - William Edward "Bill" McDaniel, 76, of Hatfield died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in his home. He was born June 8, 1925, in Hatfield. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and worked in Saudi Arabia and California building bridges and roads as a large crane operator. He was a member of Operators Engineers Union No. 3, and the First Baptist Church of Hatfield. He was the widower of Rachel Lawrence McDaniel. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Hatfield with burial at Six Mile Cemetery under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena. He is survived by his wife, Wanda; three daughters, Linda Wald of Concord, Calif., Sharon Treadwell and Pamela King, both of San Antonio; two sons, Bill McDaniel of Kansas, and Rick McDaniel of Roseville, Calif.; two stepsons, Larry Stricklin of Hatfield, and Garry Stricklin of Mena; 12 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and seven stepgreat-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wald, Gerald and Matt Treadwell, Wayne and Roy McDaniel and Sam Clayburn. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Coy Dever OZARK - Coy Dever, 86, of Ozark died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1915, in Snyder, Texas. He was a Air Force veteran of World War II, and a electrician and a rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with burial at Highland Cemetery in Ozark. He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Dorothy Bridges of Oklahoma City; a son, Joe Dever of Houston; a sister, Cybil Lightfoot of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Orville Dever of Washington; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Mamie Callahan BOONEVILLE - Mamie Callahan, 98, of Booneville died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in Booneville. She joined the First Baptist Church in 1913, was a member of Piece Makers Quilter's of First Baptist Church, a retired volunteer for ARVAC at age 96. She was the widow of Hugh Callahan. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville. She is survived by a daughter, Peggy Scott of Booneville; a grandson, Dennis Scott of East Hadan, Conn.; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Paul Williams, Roy Jack Tomlin, Carl Lyle, Ron Cooney, Glenn Phelps, Don Dunn, Cecil Brown and Larry Barnes. Bobby Roberson PARIS - Bobby Roberson, 67, of Paris died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in a Fort Smith. He was a Korean War veteran, a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Bachelor of Forestry, was retired from the U.S. Forestry Service after 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris and a active deacon, a member of Gideons International. Funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Paris with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris. He is survived by his wife, Janis; a daughter, Rene Cauthron of Paris; two sons, Russell Roberson of Russellville, and Reece Roberson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Belle Barnett of Valley Mills, Texas; two brothers, Doyle Roberson of Phoenix, and Jack Roberson of Whitney, Texas; and six grandchildren. Mildred Ryan BLUE MOUNTAIN - Mildred V. Ryan, 96, of Blue Mountain died Monday, Sept., 17, 2001, in her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1904, in Magazine. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church with burial at Blue Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville. She is survived by three daughters, Gene Hurst of Cotter, Grace Calva of Blue Mountain, and Joan Ryan of Little Rock; a son, George Carroll Ryan of Blue Mountain; a granddaughter, Ryan D. She was a business degree from Lyons College, and a degree from Arkansas Tech in Parks & Recreation administration. She was a park ranger for the Army Corps of Engineers, and a member of Dardanelle Church of Christ. She was born Dec. 4, 1904, in Maud, Okla. She was a homemaker and the widow of Elmer Frank "Sprig" Ferguson. Mary Maledon SUBIACO - Mary E. Maledon, 82, of Subiaco died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco. Jesse Putman III PLANO, Texas - Jesse Gordon "Roebuck" Putman III, 70, of Plano, Texas died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in his home. He was a graduate of Fort Smith Senior High School class of 1948. He was a retired owner and operator of Putman Jewelry in Winterhaven, Fla., and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Winterhaven, Fla., and a member of the Rotary, and a Navy lieutenant veteran of the Korean War. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cumilla; three daughters, Eugenia P. Toeffer of Sebring, Fla., Lynn P. Crume of League City, Texas, and Elizabeth Ann Putman of Plano, Texas; a brother, Paul Putman of Kiawah Island, S.C.; his stepmother, Velma F. MInden, 90, of Fort Smith entered into rest Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, in a Fort Smith nursing home. He was born May 26, 1911, in Charleston, the son of the late Mathias and Mary Nelke Minden. William was a retired clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church since 1937, Knights of Columbus No. 996, Catholic Knights of America, Subiaco Alumni Association, AARP, and a member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosia Novy Minden; four daughters, Agnes Carson of Charleston, Anna Morrow of Olathe, Kan., Alicia Minden of Springdale, and Angela Cyr of Stillwater; seven grandchildren, Michael and wife Janice Locknar, Cindy and husband, Philip Savage, Donald and wife, Patty Bagley, Stephen and wife, Diane Bagley, Richard Morrow, Jennifer and Julie Cyr. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Boniface Catholic Church officiated by the Rev. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Wright of Fort Smith, and Brenda Harvel of Van Buren; two sons, Robert "Buddy" Walters of Lavaca, and Gary Walters of Van Buren; a sister, Willene Hughes of Van Buren; two brothers, James and Billy Walters, both of Alma; seven grandchildren, Terri Lea Gipson, Tara Harvel Cummings, Lindsey Harvel, Larissa, Justin, Brittney and Rhyan Walters, and two great-grandchildren.
