    3. THELMA COUSINS Thelma L. Cousins of Fort Smith died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a retired secretary-treasurer for Kay Chair Co., a former school teacher, a founding member of the Fort Smith Art Center, a member of the Fort Smith Garden Club, past president of the Children's Service League and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Ray C. Cousins.Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Roebuck Chapel of First United Methodist Church with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. She is survived by three sons, Duane of Van Buren, Fred of Fort Smith and Jerry of Rogers; three sisters, Dorothy Snearly of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Lois Carleton of Amarillo, Texas, and Doris Eike of Radcliff, Iowa; one brother, Harold Dillon of Independence, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. . BETSY RHYNE Betsy Ann Rhyne, 70, of Fort Smith died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was a registered nurse for the Arkansas State Department of Health for 27 years, an industrial nurse for Ballman Cummings and Fort Smith Chair Co. and a pediatric nurse for Dr. Roger Bost for 10 years. She graduated from Sparks School of Nursing in 1952. She was a member of the Public Health Nursing Association of Arkansas, the Arkansas State Employees Association, the South Sebastian Historical Society and the United Pentecostal Church in Van Buren. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at a later date. She is survived by her husband, Marvel; one daughter, Dixie Rhyne of Prairie Grove; one son, Don of Little Rock; one sister, Marian "Dickie" Copeland of Encinitas, Calif; and one brother, Richard D. DELORIS HAYNES AUGUSTA, Ga. - Deloris Genise Haynes, 46, of Augusta, Ga., formerly of Fort Smith, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Augusta. She was a homemaker.Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at King Solomon Baptist Church with burial at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith. She is survived by four daughters, Tajamaha Triplett of Atlanta and Cecelia Campbell, Ebony Haynes and Naigsia Haynes, all of Augusta; one son, Terrick of Augusta; five sisters, Margaret Owens, Rose Morris, Cheryl Knauls and Deborah Haynes, all of Fort Smith, and Hazel Haynes of Atlanta; one brother, James of Fort Smith; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Releford, Scott Thrasher, Leonard Housley Jr., Orie Smith, Gary West and Larry Dooley. The body may be viewed from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. BETTY DUTTON ALMA - Betty Faye Dutton, 69, of Alma died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church of Chester.Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hight Cemetery east of Mulberry under the direction of Shaffer Funeral home of Mulberry. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Calvin Dutton; three sons, Orvel Pittser of Mountainburg, Jimmy Pittser of Rudy and Calvin Dutton of Alma; four sisters, Mary Henry of Mulberry, Ruthie Cook of Cedartown, Ga., Norene Gilbreth of Fort Smith and Carolyn Dutton of Winslow; four brothers, Johnny and David Harrison, both of Mountainburg, Floy Harrison of Sublette, Kan., and Jessie Harrison of Sallisaw; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert Carrier, Kevin Melius, Robert Petersen, Lloyd Shores, Ronald Dutton and Bobby Allen. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. BILLIE NOLEN HACKETT - Billie J. Nolen, 72, of Hackett died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of Plainview Assembly of God.Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. She is survived by four daughters, Debra Goff of Uniontown, Shirley Lee of Van Buren and Sharon Jacobs and Mary Gilbert, both of Fort Smith; four sons, Bruce Neighbors of Hackett and Rick, Billy and Bobby Nolen, all of Fort Smith; four sisters, Mildred Peak, Pauline Roberts and Corine Turnipseed, all of Fort Smith, and Sue Steele of Pocola; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
