Buried history will become living history at the fourth annual "Tales of the Crypt", slated from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Monday at Oak Cemetery, situated between Greenwood Road and South 31st Street along Dodson Avenue in Fort Smith. The life and times of a murdered Chinese laundryman, and a pioneer woman, the first female deputy U.S. Marshal who rode for Judge Isaac C. Parker and a German Immigrant and Confederate businessman are among the stories to be told. "This is an educational event for all age groups", and Church Riney, Parks and Recreation president who provided the historical research for the stories. "Each (tale) contributes to the educational and historical significance of Oak Cemetery". Those attending this free walking tour are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes to the event, which will be held rain or shine, Raney said.
