Elmer “Manny” Triplett, 81, of Spiro died Friday, July 28, 2000, in Spiro. He was a rancher, farmer, employee of the LeFlore County Highway Department, District No. 1, deacon at Macedonia Church of God in Fort Coffee, former pastor at Bethel Church of God in Spiro and First Church of God in Paris. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Fort Coffee with burial at Fort Coffee Cemetery in Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. He is survived by his wife, Electa; five daughters, Betty L. Stevenson, Lela F. Brown and Winda K. Taylor, all of Spiro, Ullies M. Atchison and Palestine Black, both of Oklahoma City.; six sons, the Rev. Robert C. Triplett, James R. Triplett Sr., Verdie Triplett and Ricky W. Triplett, all of Spiro, Otha O. Triplett of Kansas City, Mo., and Troy Triplett of Covina, Calif.; five sisters, Ersie Pringle of Cleveland, Ohio, Savara Evans and Versa M. Nelson, both of Pasadena, Calif., Onnie Minner of Spiro and Lorece Gordon of Pocola; two brothers, Savoy of Wichita, Kan., and Waymon of Spiro; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Desmar Black, Shaion Brown, James Triplett Jr. and Armad, Eric, Russell and Gerald Triplett. CLARKSVILLE — Margie Pauline Forrester, 77, of Clarksville died Saturday, July 29, 2000, in Clarksville. She was a gospel singer, pianist and the widow of Roy Forrester. She was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church and the Clarksville Lions Club. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Atkins Cemetery in Atkins under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville. POTEAU — Fonda Sappington, 44, of Poteau, formerly of Tulsa, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at a Poteau hospital. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her mother, Rena Sappington of Poteau. Opal Standard Comstock, 88, of Van Buren, formerly of Kibler, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in a local hospital. She was the widow of Edward Den Comstock and a member of the Independence Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Independence Freewill Baptist Church with burial at Hall Cemetery near Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. She is survived by one daughter, Nelda Lee Barela of La Habra, Calif.; one son, Donald Ray Comstock of Van Buren; one sister, Carmen Young of Kibler; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. SPRINGDALE — William Lewis Venable, 61, of Springdale died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Springdale. He was a graduate of Vian High School and the University of Arkansas. He retired as a beauty supply salesman and was a member of Elmdale Baptist Church in Springdale, Sallisaw Masonic Lodge and Springdale Optimist Club. CAMERON — George Allen Haywood, 84, of Cameron, formerly of Central City, died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Poteau. He retired from the FMC Chemical Company in Modesto, Calif., after 26 years and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Pentecostal and member of the Masonic Lodge 209 in Modesto.
