He was employed at Benton Co Stone for more than 10 years.Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel in Siloam Springs. Gilbert Nelson MENA - Gilbert Nelson, 87, of Mena died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in a nursing home. He was a Chief Warrant Officer for the Navy and served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a fiber glass fabricator and a resort owner.The body was cremated under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.He is survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter, Lynette Schafer of Mena; one sister, Eula Barbor of McCloud, Calif.; and two grandsons, Stan Schafer of Mena and Steve Schafer of Crown Point, Ind.
