He was a staff sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for 15 years at H&P Oil Corp. in Tulsa. He was a plumber and attended Hatfield Assembly of God.Funeral was 2 p.m. Monday at Hatfield Assembly of God with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home of Mena.He is survived by his wife, Francis; one son, John W. WISTER - Ruby Lee Wooten, 87, of Wister died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. She was a homemaker and worked at the Wister Lake Cafe and Hamlin's Manufacturing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wister.Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Wister with burial at Mount View Cemetery in Glendale, Okla., under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.She is survived by her husband, James Harvey Wooten; three daughters, Doris Elaine Duvall, Romona Gayle Vaughn and Linda Kay Brannon, all of Wister; six sons, James Dale Wooten of Benton, Robert Claude Wooten of Poteau, and Lonnie Gene, Gary Lynn, Donnie and Ronnie Wooten, all of Wister; one sister, Willene Hope of Poteau; 45 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Donald Wayne Clark, 79, of Van Buren died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in a local hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Christian Church.Cremation was under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Donna Clark of Greeley, Colo., and Jo Ann McFarland of Van Buren; four sons, Richard of Fort Collins. DURANT, Okla. - Cherokee Rose Lynch Carter, 97, of Durant, Okla., formerly of Poteau, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in Poteau. She was a former school teacher and retired as a teacher at Southeastern State University in Durant. She was a member and retired secretary of First Presbyterian Church in Durant.Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Durant. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakland Cemetery Pavillion with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener. She is survived by one daughter, Georgia Tate of Heavener; one son, Dr. Donald R. Carter of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. BARLING - Frank S. Taylor, 87, of Barling died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a retired hospital engineer, a Baptist and a World War II veteran.Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lewis Funeral Chapel of Fort Smith.He is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters, PeggySue Cox of Dover, Lee James of Fort Smith and Debbie Milton of Springdale; two sons, Wilson Evans of San Bernardino, Calif., and Randy Taylor of Barling; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Sister Jane Frances Brockman, 91, of Fort Smith died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in St. Scholastica Monastery. A former teacher and administrator, she taught elementary school in Lake Village and North Little Rock. She was a teacher and principal at St. Scholastica Academy from 1940 to 1947. She was administrator of St. Joseph Home in North Little Rock from 1973 to 1981. She was the Prioress of St. Scholastica from 1947 to 1959 and from 1963 to 1967. She was a former president of the Federation of St. Gertrude and former director for the Hesychia House of Prayer in New Blaine. Vesper service will be 7 p.m. today in St. Scholastica Chapel in Fort Smith. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Scholastica Chapel with burial at St. Scholastica Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith. She is survived by two sisters, Martha Woods of Baltimore and Mattie Endres of Hutchinson, Kan.; two brothers, Ernest Brockman of Nazareth, Texas, and Victor Brockman of Midland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. HAVANA - Aline Julia Hambright, 70, of Havana died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in her home. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel of Danville with burial at Casa Cemetery in Casa.She is survived by her husband, Ira J. ROLAND - Viola Angeline Burchfield, 95, of Roland died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in Roland. She was a housewife-homemaker, founding member of the Eastside Freewill Baptist Church in Muldrow, instrumental in establishing the senior citizens center in Muldrow and the widow of Enoch Wilson (E.W.)
