    2. RICHARD LEW THOMPSON SR., 58, of Cameron, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001. He was born Nov. 20, 1942 in Yonkers. Mr. Thompson was a truck driver, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a veteran of Vietnam, serving from 1962-1973. Survivors include his wife Ruth "Mickey" Thompson of the home; three sons and four step sons, Richard Lew Jr., Ronald Joe, Sequoyah, Hank, Frank, Scott, and Kenny; three daughters and one step daughter, Betsy, Cindy, Lawanda and Ladonna; one brother, Charlie Thompson of Muskogee; two sisters, Sarah Jane Henson of Hulbert and Anna Belle Bachfink of Catoosa; the mother of his children, Carrie Quinn; 23 grandchildren; numerous other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Ballou Baptist Church in Locust Grove. Burial will follow in Ballou Cemetery in Locust Grove under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. SAMUEL MALLIN, 97, of Cameron, formerly of Phoenix, Ariz., died Tuesday, April 3, 2001. He was a partner in Mallin Brothers Foundry of Phoenix, Ariz., a member of Bethel Temple in Phoenix, a Navy veteren of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Estell Mallin. Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Gaither of Cameron; four grandchildren, Tracy Hargrove, Jeremy Young, Ashley and Bridgette Gaither; one step grandson, Todd Bolton; three great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild. Services are pending with Sanai Mortuary of Phoenix, Ariz., under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood, Ark. DORTHY L. SMITH, 67, of Pocola, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Tulsa. She was retired from Baldor Electric, a member of Christian Grove Freewill Baptist Church and lived for her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Clifford E. Smith of the home; two sons, Richard Smith and Ronnie Smith and wife Toni, all of Pocola; three sisters, Frankie Dorsey of Fort Smith, Wanda Shackleford and Carolyn Richardson, both of Wichita, Kan.; four brothers, Jerry Smith of North Carolina, Levi Smith of Fort Smith, Joyce Dean Smith of Salina, Kan., and Ferrel Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ryan Smith, Cody Smith, Monica Flores and Tara Johnson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at the Christian Grove Freewill Baptist church in Pocola with the Rev. Jimmy Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Men's Sunday School Class. FRANCIS OLLIE PLY, 82, of Heavener, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was a lifelong resident of Heavener. Survivors include one son, Billy C. Pierce of Mount Ida, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Dowden Funeral Home in Heavener. No services are planned. Entombment will be at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, Calif. under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavener. Copyright © 2001
