    2. James Jackson “Jack” WHIPPLE, 80, of Fort Smith entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 15, 2001. He was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Van Buren. He is preceded in death by his parents Ira and Rose Whipple, three brothers, Homer, Troy and Gene Whipple, one granddaughter, Jennifer Whipple. He was a Baptist, World War II veteran, and a retired baker at Shipley Baking Company. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bertha Knight Whipple, one son and daughter-in-law, James and Margaret Whipple of Fort Smith, one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kim and Sean Gushing of Lebanon, Mo., one sister, Juanita Rabachi of Placentia, Calif. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Stateline Road. Pallbearers will be Jeff Price, Bill Shopfner, Aaron Price, Sean Gushing and J.C. Cartwright. Jeff Eli BROWN, 71, of Fort Smith entered into rest Sunday, July 15, 2001, in Fort Smith. He retired from the Army after 21 years. He was with the Intelligence school for six years in Obergau, Germany. He also spent three years with the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was retired from the Rheem Corp. He was a member of the retired Military Association and the Boys Club Alumni. He was preceded in death by his son Rusty. He is survived by his wife Norma of 49 years; one daughter, Peggy Lindsey of Fort Smith; two sons, Rick of Fort Smith and Billy of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Elsie Oldehoff of Whiting, N.J., Cecile Stokley of Collinsville, Miss., Opal Harrison and Dorothy Swanner, both of Toomsuba, Miss.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with burial with full military honors at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be military personnel. L.B. JACKSON, 57, of Magazine died Sunday, July 15, 2001, in a local hospital. He was a member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church in Magazine. Lydia MABRY, 85, of Story died Monday, July 16, 2001, in Mount Ida. She was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Harvey. She was a homemaker and a member of the Story Church of God. She was the widow of France Oliver Mabry. Funeral was held Tuesday in the Story Church of God with burial at Reed Cemetery in Story under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida. He was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Scranton. He attended high school in Fort Smith and was a Navy veteran of World War II, served as a pharmacist mate. He was a retired salesman and division manager for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church and was a Mason. Funeral was held Monday in George A. Pallbearers will be Lindel and Donnie Graham, DeWayne Glidwell, Bryan Pierce, Kevin Farr and Donnie Green. Frank James CHIOLINO, 90, of Fort Smith died Sunday, July 15, 2001. He was born Dec. 2, 1910, in Montreal, Wis. He attended Norwich Military University in Northfield, Vt., on a athletic scholarship and graduated in 1937 and was commissioned as a first lieutenant and served in the Army from 1940 to 1947. During World War II, he served in the European Theater, Northern France as a battalion commander of the 69th tank division under General George Patton. He was wounded in Best, France, and later was stationed in Germany during the reconstruction period until 1947, he retired as a lieutenant colonel. He was employed as a supervisor for American Can Company, Dixie Cup and served as treasurer and was on the board of directors for the employee’s credit union. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He was the widower of Sue Linda Coffey Chiolino. Funeral mass will be 1 p.m. today in St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Ann Marshall of Calgary, Canada; two sons, Paul S. Chiolino of Russellville and Michael J. Chiolino of Fort Smith; a brother, James of Delran, N.J.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 996. Estelle RUSH, 71, of Greenwood died Saturday, July 14, 2001, in a Fort Smith nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
