    1. [ARSebast] Clayton Russell Obituary
    2. On 17 June 2001 Clayton Russell passed away at his home on Texas Road, in Fort Smith, Arkansas... He was born 1916, the son of Beulah Eubanks and James Russell, the grandson of Alcie Daisy Bachelor and Dr. Seaborn Russell and the great grandson of Dr. Wilson R. Bachelor and Sarah Tankersley. Clayton was born in the Pauline community area, near Cecil, Franklin County, Arkansas. He worked until retirement at Wortz Co. in Fort Smith, Arkansas... Clayton Russell was a fine human being and will be missed very much. He was one of the very first people I knew that was involved in genealogy, amassing a lot of research long before the internet age came along... When I started my own research, looking for my mother's father, Roy Rentz, Clayton was the only one that knew anything about him... Clayton's research was mainly on the Tankersley and Bachelor families. He was very proud of his heritage and his family, and we were very proud of him... He is survived by his wife Jewel of the home. Two sons, Dr. Phillip Russell of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and Jim Russell and wife Phyllis, of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is also survived by a brother Paul Russell and a sister Hazel Rainwater of Fort Smith, and another sister, Evelyn Langston of Cecil, Arkansas. He is also survived by one first cousin, Wanda Rentz Dailey <my mother>, of Fort Smith, Arkansas . He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Wayne and Leon Russell. Clayton also had 2 grandchildren, Randy Russell and wife Rachel, of Fort Smith and Capt. Chris Russell and wife Cindy, of Goldsborough, North Carolina... and numerous nieces and nephews. Family visitation will be at Smith Mortuary, Charleston, Arkansas, at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 19th, 2001. Burial services will be held at the Chapel of Woodlawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 20th, 2001.
