    2. Bernice ROBERTSON, 82, of Spiro, died Friday, June 15, 2001. She was born Nov. 30, 1918 in Fort Smith to Arthur Lewis and Mary Belle Osbun Mosby. She was a chiropractic assistant. Mrs. Robertson loved to fish. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Robertson; two brothers, A.J. and James Mosby; and one sister, Lois Meadows. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Mary Robertson of Spiro, Dale and Nancy Robertson of Oklahoma City, Ronnie and Marilyn Robertson of Fort Smith and Danny and Marilyn Robertson of Heavener; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18 at the Mallory Chapel at Mallory Funeral Home in Spiro. Mae Bell (Mackey) AKINS, 77, of Poteau, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001. She was born Jan. 4, 1924 in Vian to Albert and Cora Mackey. She was a retired food service technician at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center. She was a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Wister. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Verlie Mae Jones; and her brothers, Luther, Vernon and Johnny Mackey. Survivors include her husband Jimmy D. Akins of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Jeannie Akins of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Davie Spindle of Poteau; special friends, Shirley and Mike Pottinger of Poteau; grandchildren, Kristi Henin and husband Darren, Audrey Spindle and husband Raymond Ritthaler, Steven Rutledge and wife Lori, Jamie Spindle Liles and husband Shayne, Jimmy Akins and wife Amanda; great-grandchildren, James and Samantha Henin, Rhiannon and Belle Mae Ritthaler Spindle, Taylor and Briley Rutledge, Katie Spindle Liles and Lindee and Alexus Akins; two sisters, Irene Patillo and Ruby Jane Peterman; one sister-in-law, Betty Mackey; three brothers, Louis Mackey, Elijah Mackey and Lee Mackey; dozens of nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18 at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister with the Rev. Clyde Steelman officiating. Burial followed at Iron Bridge Cemetery in Keota under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. Denzel Eugene WARREN, 57, of Pocola, died Friday, June 15, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was born June 10, 1944 in Eagleton to Homer Warren and Thelma Warren Blaylock. He attended Trinity Baptist Church of Poteau and was a 32nd degree Mason, Mushulatubbi Lodge of Cameron. He worked for 34 years with Baldor Electric.Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steve Warren. Survivors include his wife Doris of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Terry Speaks of Huntington, Kristie Warren and Tracie Warren, both of Fort Smith; two stepdaughters, Christina Ander-son and Angela Anderson, both of Fort Smith; one stepson, Johnny Anderson of Hackett; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Francine and Jerry Gregg and Ethelta Lawrence, both of Poteau and Dru and Dennis Waren of Cameron; four brothers, Rex Blaylock and Randy Blaylock, both of Smithville, Danny Blaylock of Poteau and Dusty Blaylock of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Mallory and Abbie Speaks; two step-grandchildren, Brycen and Brailey Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and loved ones and a host of beloved friends. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Trinity Baptist Church in Poteau with the Rev. Leroy Billy officiating. Burial will follow at Vaughn Cemetery in Gilmore under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. Pallbearers will be: Dale Seaton, Jackie Sweeten, Jimmie Burden, Randy Duncan, Jackie Cooper and Tom Hughes. John Duncan McCLAIN, 77, of Pleasanton, Calif., died Wednesday, June 13, 2001, in Rossmoor. He was born Sept. 6, 1923 in Arkansas. He was a teacher for 45 years in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Oakland, Calif. He received a bachelors and masters in education from the University of Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife Mary Jane McClain of the home; one son, John S. McClain of Livermore; two daughters, Gretchen M. McClain of Belmont, Mass. and Sara A. McClain of Brentwood; one brother, Glen McClain of Hobbs, N.M.; two sisters, Eloise Poe of Poteau and Pauline Lee of Spiro; and three grandchildren. Services were at 5 p.m. Monday, June 18 at Graham-Hitch Mortuary of Pleasanton. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mendocino under the direction of Graham-Hitch Mortuary of Pleasanton. Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice, 6500 Dublin Blvd., Ste. 100, Dublin, CA 94568. Minnie McCLUNG, 97, of Hartford, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in Fort Smith. She was born Jan. 27, 1904. She was a music teacher in Midland and Hartford and retired from the Hartford School system where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Hartford First Baptist Church where she played the organ and piano for over 75 years. She was preceded in death by her husband J.A. McClung. Survivors include six children, John A. McClung Jr. and wife Carol of Huffman, Texas, Wanda Millican and Wilma Yocum and husband Bill of Fort Smith, Naomi Parker of Ozark, Thelma J. Gibson of Van Buren and Paul McClung and wife Linda of Sherwood; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 and Wednesday, June 20 at McConnell Funeral Home in Hartford and the family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the funeral home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21 at the First Baptist Church of Hartford. Burial will follow at Hartford Memorial Park under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Hartford. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Larry and Bobby Yocum, Michael and Robert Parker, Robert and Richard Millican and Danny King. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandsons. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartford, Ark.
